• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I just saw them newly listed among the Tri-Power HTs with the "V2+" designation.

So I guess they are the Triple Power updated versions of the previous model? Nice looking radios, but nothing new or extra by first look, in fact they are weaker than the BF-F9V2+, which has 1/4/8W power and these only 1/4/7W.

They look to be much more comfortable in the hand by shape compared to the F9. Are they weather proof? I don't know. Battery capacity? I don't know, since there is NO info about any of that. In fact, at the time of my writing, on the Baofengradio.US site's bottom portion of "INCLUDES", it lists the BF-F9V2+ and not the new model. That is a bit irritating. They don't even have the least of quality control or attention to such basic details in order to avoid such ridiculous mistakes? Then either post nothing useful about the units or post the wrong info?! That IS pathetic! :(

Prices vary from $60 for the black one and $65 for the colored units. I guess they raise the prices due to popularity? I don't like it very much. Both Bao distributors sell these units, but neither put out adequate info about them. That seems to be the "typical" for these guys. :(

Anyhow, here is a link if anyone interested, or search for the model Baofeng UV-82 V2+ on other sites:

I would avoid baofengradio.us like the devil - as it has been mentioned in several threads they do not support their products or respond to technical questions.

As for this radio - it appears it does not have the UV-82HP options of the synchronized PTT or the VFO and Menu Lock-out. Without any accessories for the UV-82v2+ found anywhere (including basic spare batteries) - it is a total crap-shoot.

Well, maybe not as the devil :D ... but I guess they have a "questionable" reputation. But their radios are very popular nonetheless and I figured that some people may be interested, that's why I posted this news.

It would certainly help a lot if they were more open and clear about their business, their repair services, warranty and such beyond making unverifiable statements or lack of such on their website and seller page.

Let's hope they will start taking their customers more seriously and make some positive changes both quality-wise and services, in order to gain the necessary trust for becoming a reputable brand.

These radios, however, a bit overpriced in my opinion, considering the wide variety of cheaper alternatives already available. I just posted a comment regarding the BF-888S in another topic that I find it almost unbelievable that they sell such fully operational two-way radios for $13.90! :D

I wouldn't buy these for $65, but many people may find them attractive for being a brand new model.

Baofengradio.us is not Baofeng - just so you know; they state that they actually focus on cameras: (About Us) - their main business is foscam.us as they state on their site.... Simply domain name squatting and confusion

As for the model - it is simply another "rebranding". Like the UV-5Rv2+ is a rebrand of the real UV-5R (no differences)

This is a rebrand of the UV-82HP (except the differences appear to be a lack of options (single PTT, VFO lockout / Menu Reset Lockout)) - and even has a lack of accessories (a poor choice by Foscam)

There is a transmit power restriction on hh radios. 7 watts max on VHF. And as has been posted the transmitters do not meet even Ham radio standards for spurious transmissions, not to mention the stricter commercial standards..

They claim to have FCC certification on them. How do you know these radios don't meet spurious transmission standards when they only came out days ago? Do you have a test site that posted the data?

Ps; I never knew the 7watt max power limit either for handhelds. Keep searching FCC about it but found nothing. I know there are HTs with up to 10w power though.
