The state has recently made changes to several LWIN sites in the Baton Rouge area. They have created the Baton Rouge Simulcast system. The system will consist of 4 sites. The first change was to Baton Rouge (013). The second change was to LSU (014). The next was to West Baton Rouge (031). The final change took place on Oct12 to the EBRSO (078). During the swap, Trailer 99 was temporarily used at each location.

The changes appear to include some site number changes and control freq changes. Site 014, 031, and 078 no longer appear. The new site numbers recieved in Baton Rouge are:

Site 1- 026 with control freq 774.78125, 766.01875
Site 1- 025 with control freq 774.80625

These sites are listed in the Database as Rockefeller and Vinton. Perhaps someone in those areas can confirm the changes. I will wait to submit this info until I can get some confirmation from other listeners in the BR area. This is very new.

Andrew,

Thanks for the info! Wish I was still in Baton Rouge to hear the new system. I have a four site simulcast system that I maintain in Columbus, GA. Great technology. 73!

Just to be clear, you are not actually referring to a new system, but rather to a combining of sites under a simulcast site number, correct?

I have to assume this is what he meant, just used misleading words... This was the plan, and it has been happening over the last few months.

It looks as if the BTR modifications are complete now, with the Simulcast being finalized, and the addition of the SBR site.

Just need to fix the site numbers now...

Not a new system per se. I meant new information for the LWIN system. The swap over will effect listeners in the Baton Rouge metro area due to different control freqs. on the towers. The LSU site was modified on 9/28. The West Baton Rouge site was modified on 10/3. The Central site was modified 10/12. Trailer 99 was temproarily used at each location while the changes were being made.

Baton Rouge Area Sites

I did some scanning for sites this morning using UniTrunker and came up with the sites listed below. The frequencies are the control and alternate control channels. The frequencies marked with X are the control channels that I am able to confirm. I can confirm that I no longer hear sites 014, 031, and 078. I could not pick up anything for sites 025 and 026 as listed in the original message even when directly tuning the scanner.

Site Frequency Site Confirm
Geismar 769.21870 1-010 X
Geismar 769.46875 1-010

Okay I may be just a little confused. Does this simulcast system change for the Baton Rouge area mean we will no longer be able to listen/receive those 4 sites or are you saying we will be able to receive them once someone can verify the cc's for those sites. This would be a bummer is we where no longer able to pick them up. I am not sure I understand how this change or upgrade is all about.
