I received this scanner for christmas and I am having trouble programming. It is not accepting the frequency numbers for the sheriff, etc.? Am I doing something wrong? The number starts with 858.262
Any suggestions would be helpful!

Hi Jeff:

Unfortunately, the BC340CRS model only receives the following bands:

25-54 MHz
108-174 MHz
406-512 MHz

It will not be able to receive the 800 MHz band. The step-up model BC370CRS does have 800 MHz capability however.

Your zip code puts you in Charlotte County, Florida, so I did a search on the FCC files and came up with 195 files in your area.
Put some of them in and see what you can hear for now. :)

Public Service comms in Charlotte County (Police, Fire, EMS) take place almost exclusively on the County's 800 mHz. Motorola Type II trunked radio system (analog). State Police are full-time encrypted.

Aforementioned BC370CRS model will not cut it either as it cannot follow a trunked radio system, which is what you have for Law Enforcement, Fire, EMS and all other public service comms in Charlotte County.
