Hello,
I have a new BC346XT and am using freescan to program it. While I've made lots of progress I still don't feel I'm quite there. I have a friend who has a different scanner who gets something every few seconds - I do not - even though we have the "same" setup. He has a different scanner.
We both live in Edmonds WA in Snohomish County - their setup that is documented on this site matches the info my friend gave me. I will attempt to describe my freescan setup. I have one trunked system setup with one site and one group. Looks like
[MOT2] Edmonds
|--[M82P] South Sno[71]
|--[GRP] Edmonds [1]

On the Trunked system setup page:
Name = Edmonds
Type = Mot TypeII/25
Use Motorola End Code is checked , all others not checked
EDACS = Decimal
ID Mode=Scan
Nothing else checked.

On the Site Setup for "South Sno"
Quick Key=71
Site Type=Mot 800MHZ Splinter (Type II) <<<<Is this right? Info says system is Mot Type II Smartzone
Nothing is checked.
Two Trunk frequencies setup:
867.41250
867.93750
All others default.
APCO screen is all zeros.

On the Group setup there are five items
Display TGID
Lynnwood car 5008
Mountlake car 5040
Edmonds car 4976
Edmonds police 4816
Lynnwood police 4880

The system seems to only be scanning the last two - 4816 and 4880.

You need to change the site type from "splinter" to "standard" and check "control channel only".

If it still doesn't work then just delete that system and create a new one. The default freescan settings for a Motorola Type II trunking system are already correct for a Type II Smartzone system. Just add the system control channel frequencies and don't change any other settings.

What scanner model is your friend using? Does he use freescan for his? (If yes, then you can use simply import his scanner profile into your scanner).

Good Luck :)

When you get time, be sure to upgrade the BC346XT firmware to the latest version. The latest version removes the CC only option as it's always on by default now.
