New bcd996xt din box questions

Hi all, I picked up a new bcd996xt to replace my pro 2046 mobile. I see the included Din box that came with scanner is about an 1/8th"+ too small to even fit the bcd996xt case. This makes about the same amount of sense as including a serial port cable for programming.. I have 5 computers here and not one has a serial port..

My question is did they send me the wrong Din box or does Uniden not test/think things through very well?

I did get it all up and working well but now I have to choose to modify my car dash, mount it elsewhere or keep the pro 2046 in the car and use this as a base station inside the house...

Hmmm, No, I did not. I did not even think that was an option. If it is that easy, then my apologies go to Uniden for my above statement. Except the serial port part..
