New Beat 02 Repeater - Pembroke

It came online today OPP Beat 02.

This sounds positive, but the only phrase I understood so far is 2OPS42. lol. Would I be correct in guessing that a Beat 02 Repeater is just a type of repeater that, in this case, has been installed to extend the range for 2OPS42 from the Pembroke tower?

Do I need to program any new freqs into my 996XT?

I still don't quite understand how these beat and vr repeaters fit in the net diagram with FleetNet. Why so many conventional channels? And, since the conventional channel from the beat repeater is rebroadcasting (if that is the correct term) the FleetNet TG, are there increased listening opportunities?

I should stop there. I feel my questions are scattered!
