Does anybody know where the New Britain police/fire radio communications transmit from? I have noticed in the past that it is nearly impossible to listen to New Britain police/fire in nearby Farmington, presumably because Rattlesnake Mountain blocks the 800Mhz signals.

prob that is the reason you get poor reception for new britian, i notice even when i am in town, i still get poor reception unless i am in the downtown area....

The trunked site is at 100 Grand St.
The problem is noticed in the northend of the City, which is a line of site problem.
This should be correct in the near future as the city is looking at a new radio system with invitations to bid going out in the coming months....however it will not be a trunked system.
Most likely P-25 digital.

just conventional P25?...sounds good....do you have any mention of them using the same 800mhz freqs?

Given the limits on spectrum...i would say yes it would be p-26 conventional 800mz
