I'm just back from a few weeks out of the country. Was listening to Middlesex County trunked today and noted that New Brunswick was running calls and doing off-duty platoon recall tests on the Middlesex vs NJICS system. I know they maintained TG's on both systems but have they opted to move full time to the Middlesex TKD?

Been that way for sometime (more than a month). It appears to me all the RID’s roll on NJICS. Middlesex seems to be linked somehow, all one RID. Audio link perfect.

Are the Highland Park FD talkgroups active on this system or do they still only use conventional UHF?

Highland Park: all traffic now on the Middlesex County TRS, except possibly initial dispatch on UHF (sometimes patched). All fireground and ops are on the P25 TRS exclusively. The UHF channel is used by EMS primarily now.

New Brunswick: on State system, patched as X9009X stated to the Middlesex County TRS. New Brunswick Fire also has 7 conventional fireground channels/frequencies that they can use for on-site communications, licensed by Middlesex County. Those channels are listed in the database under City of New Brunswick, and they are all P25 digital, simplex mode.

I’ve heard a decent amount of highland park fire traffic on the msex TRS, from dispatch/tones and actual foreground talk, not sure if they are actual Lon the county system or patched in from NJICS
Yes, Highland Park FD is now on the Msex Public Safety TRS.

Thanks for the info. I heard Highland Park on the TRS yesterday. The Middlesex County system really puts out great coverage. I'm 30 miles away in Essex County and they are booming in here. I'm at 500' elevation which I'm sure also helps.
