Lindsay has agreed to split the Canada forum into two separate forums:

Eastern Canada and Western Canada.

The dividing line is the Ontario/Manitoba border.

I've migrated any topics in the Eastern Canada forum that deal with Western Canada. I used the subject line as my guide.

If you find any other topics that need to be moved, please send me the link and I will take care of it.

I guess we'll consider them part of eastern Canada although isn't Labrador within the province of Newfoundland?

It was Lindsay who put together the forum descriptions so I think we can forgive him if his Canadian geography isn't up to snuff.

Sometimes I type so fast I can't spel me own naim Newf and Labrador
are usually grouped together. A minor addition will fix it; whenever.

And I guess we can forgive Shaun's initial misspelling...

It is well known in the states that Canadian children can name the 50 US states but US children can barely name the 50 US states never mind the minor divisions in other counties. I knew all the provinces until they added that new one I can not pronounce. Hams tend to be good at geography except they only know where unusual places are like Heard Island and St.Pierre & Miquelon.

I heard the name as "Province of Newfoundland and Labrador". There are locations in Newfoundland that are fantastic DX locations for HF and AM Broadcast frequencies.

I find it interesting that Newfoundland and Labrador considered not joining the confederation back in the 1940s and to be independent with a form of economic union with the United States. P.E.I. has a strong link to confederation as a contrast.

P.E.I. is a separate province even after they put the big bridge in. The Green Gables theme park takes up most of the island excepting the part where the big potato farm is.

Quebec does not choose to recognize the actual border for Labrador. Look at a map of Quebec from Quebec. it is disputed.

There is a song written back then named "Beware the Canadian Wolf".

We here in the "Boston States" have a number of things in common with the Maritimes, like Hockey and Candlepin Bowling. There has been a several hundred year migration between New England and the Maritimes with people going back and forth. I could likely be in New Brunswick or British Colombia if my ancestor decided not to move back to Maine in the 1820s after the family got burned out during the American Revolution.

It is too bad they only seem to show Red Green on this side of the border. I have seen some episodes of Air Farce but it was a compilation of generic stuff with all the Canadian Content removed. All my knowledge of Canada comes from watching episodes of Air Farce and 22 Minutes smuggled across the border.

I wish PBS would play the series "Canada: A People's History". It is a very interesting series on Canadian History.

There are over a million ex-Canadians in various Mill towns all over N.E, Biddeford, Alfred, Manchester where there are still pockets of francais.
I studied this at length many moons ago in University.

22 minutes and air farce are really funny but the best canadian show by far is Trailer Park Boys I don t know if it is available in the usa or not. but the other two shows beally illustrate the stupidity of canadian politics

I love to watch Royal Canadian Air Farce!! The way they bash stupid politicians on either side of the border is outstanding, and trust me they really deserve it! I do like "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" but my all-time favorite show on CBC when I was growing up was "Wayne and Shuster." Now those guys were blast, even when they guest starred for Red Skelton during his illness, which also included Ed Sullivan doing some of Red's best characters in the early 1960s.
