The Teal-2 will have to come after the Tan-2 because 42.84 Mhz is the current mobile frequency for the Tan.

Avtarsingh:

The install crews down here are moving right along. Remember, most of the sites around her are relatively low elevation and easy to reach. Antelope Valley, that's another story. So far, the signal strength has improved with each cutover. The Orange used to come in pretty crummy, on some days it was barely receivable at my location. The Black was somewhat better, now The Black-2 is coming in strong. The White-2, which covers my area, has greatly improved. Overall, mobile audio quality has a little compression, but it still sounds very good.

I've removed the off-topic posts. Sorry to those that got included.

I'm confirming it now that all the work is done by State employed techs. No contractors. Don and avtarsingh are completely correct. This is no longer up for argument in this thread.

well mark also

not to mention the southern cal install crew is a very good crew.

those guys are very smart and very fast not to mention a great group of guys

the new installations all are using 7/8 now not that 7/8 and 1/2 in is a huge diff at those freqs

but you can assume a lot of the coax was old and always possibility of water migration over the years vs new shiny 7/8 wel sealed stuff

Dispatch announced on the Tan this afternoon that the Brown Channel was out of service for the one week for 'upgrades'. Altadena units were to use one of the TAC channels.

Altadena has been on 39.42. I haven't heard anything on their new one yet, the times I was listening.

Dave:

There has been a lot of testing activity on the hew Brown-2, it sounds like they are nearly finished with the upgrade. From what I heard, it sounded like the installation and testing went very smooth. I would expect the cutover to begin as early as tomorrow.

Dave:

They, (CHP), are also doing something weird, they are temporarily dispatching Altadena units on both Tac-2, 39.42 Mhz, and Tac-5, 42.92 Mhz, simultaneously. Tac-5 comes in much stronger at my location near the LA., Orange county border. You might want to disable your CTCSS; I hear the techs testing the Brown-2 with and without the tones.

Today at 11:50 AM the Altadena #98 CHP office made the switch to their new Brown2 channel of 44.74/42.46 186.2 after temporarily being on 42.92 Tac 5 for the last several days.

I noticed they had some spotty performance with 39.42, so maybe that's why they used two.

I also noticed it sounds like Black 2 has had the power turned down or something. I don't think it's as strong as when they first started it.

the new channels are sounding good and are repeated in the SFV. I'm still wondering when Tan and Teal will be switched over. I assume soon based on the thread. Any thoughts on this?

Actually... I turned it on briefly last night, and Brown and White both had the mobiles turned off. So not a good sign. I don't know if they're on today. But that means it's apparently still up to whoever is working the board.

Guys, if we could move the detailed discussion to the regional forums that would help out. I want to keep this thread for more of an overview of regional transition and general information. Thanks.

I found it terribly convenient to have all these posts in one forum/one thread, so I wouldn't have to go hopping around trying to figure out what is going on.
Not everyone wants a blow-by-blow for what's happening locally when they can't hear it, or have an interest in it.

If anyone else object please do so via PM.
