Just returned from Orange Beach with some new findings on this new system. It is a VHF LTR system as suggested by Brad. PD is currently on the system and there are plans to bring the fire dept on there as well. The 155.415 conventional repeater has been taken offline but the 154.325 Fire Dept. repeater is still online. While the LTR system has been testing, PD has been using 155.670 (Public Works Repeater). They were moved over onto the LTR system about 2:30 this afternoon and have been there since. I Suspect they will move the fire dept over to the Public Works repeater while their LTR equipment is being installed and they will be back on 154.325.

I have ID'd the following talkgroups:

0-01-010 - Dispatch
0-01-040 - Marine

Looks like PD operations will still reside on the 155.415 repeater.
I'll be running some logging when I get home and see what all talkgroups show up in this testing phase.

Thanks, Jason - being out of state temporarilly at the moment on Chaplain duty keeps me out of the local loop at times. Keep us posted on things as they develop.

I haven't heard any traffic on the NEW LTR system Orange Beach put up for several days and found them back on 155.670 (Utilities) . I can only assume they are having problems with this new high tech system. *sigh*

It's still there, the LTR status transmits every 10 secs. No one has been on it for days. I was informed there are problems with the system so they are back on the Public works repeater.

Word is they got it for free.... you get what you pay fore.

With the PD also using the Street Department repeater, I can imagine that the administrators, Bill Silvers and Rick White are real happy about that.

Jason - if you have a moment, use the FCC database 'below' and look at these callsigns... looks to me as if all the licensing is up to date. Which of these are in the VHF LTR system... all of them? Synchronizing a system like this is not rocket science except if the software in the system controller has issues. I wonder where they are having the problems?

Kingpin - Haven't had any updates on the system in OB lately. Heard through the grapevine that they went back to the single channel repeater awhile back... but that may have only been temporary for 'maintenance'. Any news on this at all?

Sorry, haven't posted any updates. I updated the database to reflect the change but yes, they have abandoned the trunked system (they were just trying it out) and they are using the old public works frequency. They've been back on there awhile now. No major swapout of equipment because the Kenwood mobiles and handhelds do both LTR and conventional. Just a program change and biggity-bam, back to conventional.

I still stand behind them staying on conventional. No need for them being trunked and cutting themselves off from the rest of the county like Daphne and Fairhope.

Thanks for the confirmation. I'm confident that Bill A. at the Fire Department Station 1 and Lee L., Carl B. and Rusty at the PD, are all relieved that the system is as it was before the testing.

Thanks again!!

LOL. I talked with Lee about it last month and they are happy to be "back to normal". That pie in the sky turned out to be full of mud.
