CN seems to indeed shortening up their detector broadcasts in high traffic areas where radio traffic might walk on the detector broadcast.
CP, conversely, still has their super long, repeated broadcast. When I worked as an RTC is was a pain in the ass when you wanted to talk to a train to give a clearance or ask for a track release but couldn't because the crew was 'waiting for the detector'
Most crews just need to know their axel count and that they aren't needing to walk halfway back their train with some temple sticks, a sensitive nose and a bad attitude.
