Did anyone see this new Tennessee State Police communications and MIS vehicle in Lakewood today? Strange to see a Tennessee Trooper vehicle here. Nice looking vehicle with at least 17 antennas.

Maybe the vehicle was custom built in Colorado by some contractor for the Tennesse State Troopers and
it was either seen during testing, evaluation and perhaps in route to it's Tennesse delivery ?

Do I see 2 awning style deployable solar panels ? On the tops of 2 telescoping poles do I see cameras ?
The one mast seems to have a what lQQks like 4 rectangular flood lights. I see 3 nice roof top AC units
as well as a small dome autotracking satelite TV antenna. I believe that is an external 32" LCD TV mounted
on the side of one of the slide out sections under the front solar panel awning. With that 6' diameter uplink-style
satelite dish for live remote broadcasting this makes me think it's an EOC/mobile command center.
I gotta ask if anyone have a rough guess how this baby costs ? ( I say easy half a million to a million with equip?)
Well I say if the TST doesn't want it maybe they could toss the keys and tittle to Lindsay and it could sure
make a really nice addition to Radioreference, LLC to be loaned out around the country as a Radioreference
frequency & TRS research station ! There just has to be some elbow rQQm in there to mount a few scanners and
Unitrunker stations. All of course with lots of snacks, pizza and an endless supply of beverages for all aboard
now who is with me ? I volunteer that we could keep it busy down here in Texas first, home of RR of course :)

You are very observant. Built on the north side of Kalispell, Montana. I don't believe there are solar panels. There are two large generators. That's why the rear end rides low. One mast has a Pelco camera and a cross arm which could probably be used for antennas similar to South Dakota's State Police comms trailer. (I can post a couple of South Dakota pics if anyone is interested.) The other mast is for antennas. Correct on the TV mount. $650,000 as seen. A tow behind trailer with the MIS equipment costs another $450,000. Tennessee provided the radios. Kenwood LMR and a TS-2000 for the ham bands. Icom aircraft radio and yes, a Uniden 996T. Almost forgot the 2 CB radios. Cobras I think. Telex IP223 for control. Check the Nomad site for additional capability. The only way to interface with Colorado DTR is via a conventional channel.

Michael did you ever work on the SR-71?

rfburns, thanks for your info. I sure think those are indeed solar panels as in the pics I swear I can see
the glitter of the silicon and their grid lines. Also, since the slide out bays don't have windows the shade
awnings don't seem to have any purpose except for standing out of the rain and or watching that LCD TV?
Hmm, maybe our mobile Radioreference rig doen't have to be so lofty ... how bout a Winebago or GT Van?
So how did you find out what radios where in that TST rig ?

Hey hey are your trying to make me old, I am 47 born in 1964 well after Lockheed had made the SR-71.
I just think it was a way cQQl aircraft WAY ahead of it's time !!! What aircraft is your avatar of - DC? w/props?

Could it have been a Secret Service vehicle covering the President's visit incognito?

Where are the inside pics ?
Here's 2. Sorry they are a little soft, but you can get the radio layout idea. Note the Uniden 996X or XT and the Kenwood TS-2000 and the Telex IP-223's.

Looks pretty much identical to Jeffco's new rig. (last year) No solar panels just electric slide out awnings that automatically retract at a certain wind speed. They are certainly nice both inside and out.

I know I have seen several police vehicles for other states being sent away via car hauler semi in Evans. I imagine this vehicle had to travel around to get equipped, rather than being hauled by a truck. Evans alone is home to more than a few businesses that would likely be able to help outfit the vehicle, so I am sure there are similar businesses in the Denver area. I know that fire trucks are manufactured out of state and then brought here. Its good it has all the logos to keep people from freaking out seeing a large unmarked government vehicle roaming the streets! Both comm vehicles are very nice, and I appreciate the pics!

Air Tanker T-00

What aircraft is your avatar of - DC? w/props?
It is a P-3A Orion. Tail number N900AU. It was formerly Air Tanker 00. I have talked with it on the radio many times. Last July 29th the Forest Service terminated Aero Union's contract. Aero Union is accepting sealed bids for their air tanker fleet and the bids will be opened on February 28. The rumor is that the USFS would like to use C-130J's for their air tanker fleet. The cost of a new C-130J is 90 million dollars.
