As mentioned by Will W4WWM on yesterdays Multi Mode Digital Voice Net, the QuadNet team have been testing a brand new HF D-STAR gateway. This cross band gateway allows VHF and UHF hotspots and repeaters to make HF D-STAR contacts.
We would like to invite all that may be interested to monitor as we continue to test the gateway and make sure it is working properly. To listen in you will need to login to the following Smart Group. To login or to logoff of the Smart Group, place the appropriate command in the URCall field of your radio and key your mic:
Login - QNHFRX
Logoff - QNHFRX T
If you are successfully logged in or logged off you should see the confirmation message scroll across your D-STAR screen. If you do not see the message you may need to forward UDP port 40000 from your router to your hotspot.
At this point in time the HF Gateway is receive only. Once testing is complete we will make an announcement letting everyone know how to register for transmit privileges through the HF gateway.
For more information about the HF gateway, please send an email to admins@openquad.net.
