New defective Uniden PC68LTX

I'm rather disappointed with my new PC68LTX CB radio. I purchased it back during the holidays 6 months ago with a gift card.

This was to replace a Uniden PRO510XL from the 1990s. That radio still operated OK but the internal speaker failed.

So yesterday I finally decided it was upgrade time. Much to my disappointment, the new radio has no transmitter output. The LED switches from green to red when keyed but no RF. Not any signal on my SWR meter or S meter on the radio. Nothing heard on my other vehicle either. Swapped mics also, no change.

For now, the old radio is back in with the external speaker and all is well. I'm past the Amazon return window by months. Lesson learned, test new purchases right away.

What @KevinC said! The Amazon return window has absolutely nothing to do with the factory warranty.

As well, if you are happy with the 510, you should be able to open it up and replace the speaker for about $5 and 5 minutes of your time. Some require soldering, some don't. Just see what kind of speaker is in there, buy a replacement, and you should be good to go.

It's boxed up and ready to ship to Roanoke, TX. I took a photo of the serial number plate. I'm curious if they will repair mine or not.

I took the 510 speaker out a few months ago to see if I had one from something else and found one almost exactly the same. In any case new replacements are available but I thought I deserved a treat and bought the new radio.

I've had CB radios for 45 years and still have every old one in the collection and most every one operated when removed. Now I miss Radio Shack.
