well, I was just scanning around the "new" dinwiddie licenses and BAM!
I guess they're in the testing phase. BTW, anyone have a confirmed list of their new frequencies?
Copied today were 155.6325 (or thereabouts) pl of 146.2 test counts and such, as well as P25 on 154.4375, with technicians calling out landmarks and giving signal reports...which brings up the next question,to wit-

Are they going digital on this new system or are the radio contractors just monkeying around?

just wondering aloud

Another frequency is 151.085 mHz, this is a FB2 designation. Cutover is supposed to be in October. Main comms is digital, there will be an analog channel that can be patched in for mutual aid companies. Of course, paging will be analog. Unfortunately, all I hear is a buzzing sound.
:( Our mobile radios (Astro Spectras) have been installed, waiting on portables and pagers now.

I don't have a whole lot of info, but here is what I know.

Two to three transmitter sites, Dewitt, Fire Station 1, and Landfill (not sure where that is). Microwave links between sites/new comm center in Dinwiddie. I think the holdup is funding on the third site.

On the VHF end of things:

WPFB776 (for 155.940, likely will keep for alerting)
WPUJ964 (sycamore drive location)
WPZV812 (13516 AND 18407 boydton plank road location, wheelers pond road location)

Freqs:

151.085 (rptr output - also licensed for mobile, talkaround use)
154.4375 (rptr output - also licensed for mobile, talkaround use)
155.6325 (rptr output)

156.105 (likely an input, licensed for mobile)
159.0375 (likely an input, licensed for mobile)
153.7475 (likely an input, licensed for mobile)

on the WPUJ964 license, which was issued in 2002, there are freqs licensed for FM and P25 use. But not on the inclusive WPZV812 license.

Freqs licensed for P25:

151.085
156.105 (these two are likely paired together)

But as BA has already heard, it could show up anywhere.

Thats all for now.

possible freq assignment confirmed

THIS JUST IN!!!!

We can probably say that 151.085 (P25) will be for Sheriff's Dept comms, just heard two of the higher-ranking deputies on this freq testing out the radios, calling out landmarks, etc.
However, at this stage of the game, all is very changeable.

You answered your own question. P25 is digital. The "test team" has been conducting mobile/base county grid location tests this week on mostily on two repeater frequencies. 155.6325 mhz. apparantly will remain analog and is referred to as "analog" by the test team. Contrary to the use of 151.0850 mhz. as a mobile TAC repeater by the SO and Animal Control, it is not considered to be the TAC channel. The TAC channel is simplex probably either P25 on the output or input frequencies of 151.085 mhz. I don't that for a fact. So far I haven't heard them on TAC. The repeater has great coverage from mobiles accessing it from Brunswick Co; west of the county; east to Prince George Co. An HT can access it from inside a house in Colonial Heights. Apparantly 154.4375 mhz. will be used by F/R and 155.6325 mhz. by the SO. I would think 155.6325 more appropriately would be P25 and 154.4375 mhz. analog but that's not currently the setup.

answered my own question????

I am aware p25 is digtital, but thank you anyway for the heads-up.
I hear the units are using it as a TAC of sorts, but their traffic and radio usage is not all that far removed from their comms on low-band. I have heard their units using the talk-around feature and this is referred to by them as "tac".

The content of the comms may not be significantly different on 151.085 mhz. but the operation is different in respect to there being no dispatch to mobile and vice versa comms. I assume the repeater output simplex is what is referred to as TAC.
