new dispatch system

fairbanks-northstar borough just went digital but i still pick up fire dispatch and some troopers on my analog scanner.
my question is why can't i program their tac. freqs. ?
are those also analog freqs.

You're going to need a digital scanner if you want to listen to most of it. The analog simulcast of many of the channels that you can still hear might not last forever.

okay i now have a digital & also the scan-lite plus cd for programming,can i transfer the freqs. say from this website directly to the scan-lite index or must i do that man.?

They are still going to simulcast on the analog freqs for the FD's for now. They were going to shut down all the analog last year but they kept it and from what I understand they are not going to shut that down anytime soon. All the FD tac's are on ALMR. Airport and UAF are the only two that still use analog and I have not heard a timeline for them to switch

Yeah, I think for the most part, FDs are using the analog frequencies for fireground comms, paging, unlock tones for key boxes, as backup, etc.
