If you will be trunk tracking with two dongles, use this time to edit the DSDPlus.networks, .sites, .groups and .frequencies files. Voice following requires accurate frequency information and you may as well add the information for the other files too.

Please remind me - trunktracking with DSD FL, P25 system. Do i still need to fill the frequencies manually?

I have 1 dongle and another on the way. I want to use this with Unitrunker and SDR# with use of the scanner plugin. I want to monitor both digital and analog frequencies.
My questions are,
1) Does this version allow analog pass through so I can monitor both?
2) If not, is there any development going towards this in the future?
3) Is there any solution to using this software to monitor both digital and analog without having to listen to the digital noise?

Please forgive me if these questions have been answered, I've been reading and reading with no absolute answers yet. My eyes are crossed and I'm just throwing it out there.

Thanks in advance for any help.

When using Unitrunker and DSDplus, you can hear both analog and digital traffic on the system you are trunking. With current versions of Unitrunker, you don't even need SDR#, except to find out the ppm correction you need to use, since Unitrunker will directly interface with the RTL dongles.

How long after donating can I expect a fast-lane version?

Thanks for the reply bama9999. I would also like to know if I'd be able to scan through several trunked systems and conventional channels as well. I guess I would like to have some type of Scanner like functions with this.

You would need an additional dongle for SDR#, in addition to the two used with Unitrunker, to be able to scan conventional frequencies at the same time. It's possible to use Unitrunker with just one dongle, but in doing so your limited in bandwidth compared to using two dongles.

Are there any tutorials to help with this set up that you or anyone else may know of? I can also try and figure it out myself, that's all part of the fun anyways but a little help wouldn't hurt me, LOL. Thanks bama9999

Far as I know DSD+ does not track p25 systems at this time. Maybe I'm wrong though. I thought I read perhaps in a year or so p25 might be incorporated.

1) No.
2) Yes.
3) If you are monitoring a mixed mode trunking system (Motorola 3600, P25 Phase 1, EDACS), the trunking decoder program is responsible for handling analog voice.

You're welcome.

What tutorials are you wanting? Unitrunker setup, using a single dongle for trunking, using SDR# or what? Not sure I'm following what it is exactly that you're seeking.

Sorry for the late reply. What I would like to do is be able to monitor a couple trunked systems (Moto Type II and P25-Phase I) and some local area conventional analog and digital PD/FD frequencies, also the ambulance service in my area which has switched to NXDN. I want to have all the frequencies programmed and scanning as a normal scanner would. Is this possible? I have tried but am still waiting for a couple dongles to arrive. I will have 3 RTL-SDR dongles.

My apologies if I have hijacked the thread. If there's an appropriate thread for this I will try and find it.
Thanks for the help.

Digital decoders provide functionality that other methods do not, such as detailed system analysis and logging, true prioritized trunk monitoring and multi-mode digital voice voice decoding. They do not "reinvent the wheel", so to speak, by emulating traditional scanners.

A single trunking system (Type II, P25p1, EDACS) can be monitored with UT plus DSD+. NEXEDGE, Connect Plus and Tier III systems by FMP and DSD+. In all cases, two receivers required unless UT's multi-VCO feature can cover control and voice channels simultaneously.

I am not aware of a mixed mode conventional scanning solution; programs like SDR# and FMP currently feed a single audio client, DSD+ for example, and DSD+ does not support analog signals (yet). A single dongle can be used to monitor either analog signals (SDR# plus scan list) or digital (FMP plus scan list)

Those are today's answers. They will change in the future.

yes, sorry, my bad. Although nexedge tracking works amazingly. DSD FL really worth it!

Thanks for the help.

There is a plug-in that you can add to SDR# so that it will scan a group of frequencies. There is also a DSD+ plug-in for SDR# as well. You can use that for the conventional frequencies that you want.

As DSDPlus said, you can only do one trunked system at a time with Unitrunker. You can indeed do both of the ones you are wanting to, just not at the same time. Even if you have enough dongles, I'm not sure if you can run multiple instances of Unitrunker or not. Hopefully someone else will chime in on that.

Here's a link to setting up Unitrunker...it's an older version that has some differences from the current version, but hopefully it will still have enough info to get you going with that.

Features

I just received DSD 1.092 , set it up, and it is AWESOME!!! I am using the SW to track a Con+ system here in Eastern MA.

I know this is the forum to discuss setup and issues that we may have - in order to help others. I found these threads extremely helpful in setting up my own system.

My question is - Is this the forum we want to use to discuss new features/enhancements? or should we just send email directly to the DSDPlus team?

Thanks again to the team for such a great tool for monitoring!!

Bill
