New Fed Freqs?

I have logged the following freqs on 11/30/09 between 9 and 10 pm PST;

168.8375 & 168.9625 - Data bursts; sound like P25.
171.4625, 168.2375, 166.9250 and 165.9000 - sound like control channels.

I will check these out further after I get them programmed into my PRO 95 and/or BC250D.

Anyone have anything on these? They are not listed as part of DoJWIN.

I'm in Mount Vernon, WA, using a BC780XLT with an amplified (~18db) RS all-band dual-dipole antenna.

Used the PRO 2035 to double-check freqs above and they check out as reported. I punched in the 168.8375 and 168.9625 freqs into my BC250D and voila! It decoded (P25) an OMAHA talking to another unit (780?) simulcast on both freqs.

I also logged 168.2375 (cc?) and data bursts on 170.8125 and 173.0750.

The frequencies don't look familiar, and their not listed in the wiki, but Omaha does lead me to believe it's a CBP air unit. I'm sorry I can't offer much more than that, but I hope it's a start. I also get 173.0750 databursts. I'm sure someone can elaborate more but I THINK that falls in with the data channels for stream/water level reporting. Don't quote me on thta tthough...

173.075 is the nationwide freq for LoJack units - tracking stolen cars and other stuff

Most agencies around here are now on the JIWN .. And I've yet to hear any voice traffic on my PSR 500

OMAHA is DHS

"Omaha" is a DHS-CBP Blackhawk stationed at the Bellingham International Airport. The Air Interdiction Agents regularly assist the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office and come up on their "high-band" (453.325) as "Omaha."

"780", as you probably know, is the Border Patrol HQ in Blaine.

being used by Omaha ??

Western Washington jiwin nac for control channels is nac 712
for jiwin voice channels nac 710
if dhs/cbp are up on conventional channels nac normally 301

Actually I am looking for someone who has confirmed the NAC on the channels that Omaha was heard on.

Yes CBP is typically $301, and no DHS [the parent agency] is ""not"" typically $301

Ive heard Omaha aircraft up on conventional (ahhhhhumm) DHS freqs here in the northwest and they use nac 301 around here... The Eyes in the sky likes to keep intouch with either Sector 780 or Charlie-100...Cant trust us Canadian CheeseHeads for some reason ??????
Now if they were up on the jiwin trunk system, normally you'd only see the tgid and unit id# appear not the nac.
conventional scanning of the jiwin trunk system shows these nac #'s 712/710


168.8375 is part of the jiwin trunk system

I think all that ecps92 was saying is that CBP has a lot of NACs in their radios besides N301. It's not always safe to assume that it's always that one.

Regarding the JIWN NACs, you should see that each JIWN site is using a different NAC, and the voice channels associated with that site use the same NAC. At least that's the way it is on all the sites I monitor.

Im sure there are afew of you around there that listen to jiwin on those new scanners you guys got for xmas at Bellis Fair mall or ventured abit further south to HRO in portland

Inquiring minds need to know what the NAC is????
