The signal reaches amazingly far. I'm on the DE/PA state line and I can get it on a handheld outside. Radio techs were there last Thursday trying to get the call boxes working. Lots of TG's not Id'ed yet aside from those posted.
I’m sure their system will be expanded. For now Police, Fire, Engineering Maintenance, EMS-Environmental management service, and Transportation TG’s. I know nursing and urgent care also uses the radios sometimes.

I noticed on the new Coatesville VAMC radio trunking system I do not hear the VA police, security and I think they had encrypted their transmissions a few months ago. Any input on that?

In other VA Medical Facility radio systems around the country, I have seen two possible situations. One - The VA Police are on the new trunked system and are encrypted, Two - The VA Police are not on the new trunked system and continue to operate on their own, separate radio system.

In my home area of Portland, OR the VA Police lease space on the Portland Public Safety P-25 trunked system while the VAMC facilities in both Portland and Vancouver, WA have a DMR system of their own.

I was employed be the coatesville pa. VAMC since 1978 and worked there as a electrician in the engineering service and carried a two way radio throughout a large 42+ main buildings and lots of acreage campus. I remember we all operate on one frequency 168.525 for police, fire, and engineering and later we have separate frequencies for each service. I’ve been retired now for six years and noticed they had upgraded to a Digital trunking radio system. I will try monitoring the old VA police frequency and see if there is any activity there.
