I haven't been on radio reference in a few years. I was driving home the other night, and something was going on at the local waffle house(I passed about 4 county deputy heading that direction). I arrived at my destination, then logged onto scanner radio to see what was going on, only to find that their was no feed for Cabell County!! Just HPD. I have decided to rectify that, I originally was going to use my Baofeng , but I couldn't get the audio quality I desired from it. I'm still playing around with some audio settings, and a few other things. I need to locate the radio and odroid in a more permanent location.

Let me know what everyone thinks about it. I'm open for tips and suggestions. ;)

Hey Jeremy,

I was glad to see a Cabell Co feed go up. I added it to my home page. Listened to it a little the other Nite, wasn't to bad but could be better. I like the HPD feed too. Always interested in what is going on in the western part of the state. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the warm welcome! I feel as though their used to be more feeds in this area, oh well. Things happen. I know it requires bandwidth and some ISP's are putting limits and caps on that stuff. Luckily, mine has no caps as of yet. I also know that most of the state is going to the digital trunked system.

I will say that when HPD switched over to the SIRN, a lot of people didn't like it at all. The scanners were pricy and the end users didn't like it as well.

We have several Analog holdout agencies in my area. I guess they don't feel as though the money on new equipment is worth the investment.

I know one of the original complaints I heard from people when the digital system was implemented, was that it worked or it didn't. No grey area. I do know that the SIRN system is being expanded and improved state wide. It is a very neat concept and system.

I'm just glad that I can provide some audio to radio reference and they can provide the service to folks. I know as a ham, I like having the ability to monitor local emergency stuff, especially in inclement weather, especially while traveling.
