• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

My dealer reports that Unication pulled 1.34 because there were bugs and that 1.35 was just a fix to correct some of the biggest bugs. I was also told that 2.01 will be the next release and on the website when it is ready. My dealer recommends that customers not upgrade from 1.33 at this point.

I just received a new G5 today and it reports having FW 2.01 already installed. This was right out of the box straight from Ray's Pager Sales. I'm surprised it hasn't hit the website yet.

It is only for new hardware at this point.

FW 2.01 was created to deal with new chips being used in the pagers because the older chips were not available. The 1.3x FW was not compatible with the newer chips. Future versions of the FW should be compatible with both versions of the chips, but until Unication finishes writing and beta testing it the two versions of the pagers (one with a N in the serial number, the older version without it) there will be two different versions.

The two different FW versions may be why it isn't available on the website, they don't want people using the wrong one thinking it is an upgrade.

Wasn’t that the purpose of AutoUp, to provide the correct firmware for a given serial number?

I guess I need a G5. Might have to wait until 2025 to keep my new years resolution.

There's possibly a bug in the new FW. There now are times when the G5 remains un-squelched after the end of a conventional analog transmission. To squelch the unit again it's necessary to either switch to a different channel and back again or to wait for the next transmission. It doesn't appear to be a noise floor issue.

Ok ill feed the troll..
Gee Where did you get that software and firmware, no one else has it and its not on any sites
I for one would love both!

Please remember the V2.xx FW is for the G5N version, the ones with the newer chip, it is not an update for V1.xx FW.

Unication has pulled their updates so I’m pulling my link.

Just fyi to anyone who wants to test the update, I tested moving between versions and you can’t downgrade to below 1.35.

No issues detected other then the squelch issue reported above (which happens rarely).
