• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just completed the update took about 15-20 minutes and had no issues. Follow the instructions and you should be fine, make sure pager is charged before you start.

I’m interested to see the results if anyone tries this on the older G5’s. Version 2.02 was very sluggish on mine so I ended up reverting back to 1.35.
I'm still at 2.02 on one of mine and 1.35 on the other. At times it seems the older FW works a little better but then at other times not. Maybe just me. I normally don't do anything fancy with mine but on occasion some full spectrum scan on a trip. I too would interested in other results. My pagers are from likely 2019 from what I can tell.

My G4 seems to make more popping sounds while using it on the charger amplifier.

So I understand this update only applies to Ver 2x and PPS 4xx …
Since most of these latest updates addresses few under the hood stuff, I have decided to stay with the 1.35 which displays no issues .

I cannot stress enough how these need to have a manual band plan setting. With some systems not broadcasting the IDEN channel plan and on sometimes busy systems the pager cannot "find" the system without it.

Thank you, that's interesting. I have not done the upgrades yet, I've never been one unless there was a problem to jump on the latest release of firmware, but that's just me.

If I could ask please, what firmware did you have in the pager?
I had the previous version.

Thanks, truthfully I'm not having any issues with my 2 G5's on the firmware they're currently running. Both are used a lot in the amplified charging bases, so I think if anything I'll try one and see how it goes here or, leave well enough alone for now and see what others report.

Ya I've still got one on 1.35 and it's staying there unless something pretty dramatic happen with the firmware to entice me to change. I play with the one and it currently has 2.02 on it I may get the update on the one that has 2.02 on it and see if I experience this popping a couple of the guys are talking about there on my charger.
