• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I see new firmware/software for the NXR1700/1800 repeaters is out as of 01/09. V2.10. Supposedly adds voting capability, among other things.

That's good. I've got the software sitting at work waiting to be loaded. I've got 3 NXR-1800's on the way that will have the network linking option. I ordered them back in October or so, and delivery is still showing at March.

Anyone know the current status of the latest Viking update? I can't quite read between the lines to know if it's safe to download.

Folk, let's try to keep this thread focused on Kenwood firmware updates and releases. Questions about Kenwood radio programming software should go in separate threads.

@AK9R: To be clear, the Viking updates include the whole Kenwood/EFJ Viking ecosystem – Armada, other apps, and firmware for multiple Viking models.

The latest release appears to be 23.1.5 dated 12/11/2023, in 1.40.21/ with files changed 12/12/2023.

Hi everyone,

Does anyone know what the new NX1000 FW 2.30 will include for NXDN and DMR?

I know KWD doesn't include any details, but maybe someone out there has the information.

Kind regards,

Diego
They don’t really disclose any info on FW updates, if you ask some of the tech support sometimes they will just give a generic “it fixed something in one of the protocols”

They did disclose that one of the last updates fixed a private call issue on DMR.

You mean 8.42.12, right?
8.42.21 was released today for all VP/M 5000/6000/7000/8000 series

They also released armada V 1.42.17 about a week ago that addressed an issue with armada defaulting the CTCSS

And now the .21 firmware and 24.1.3 release note has been moved to a subdir and the .12 firmware has been put back up again, in its own subdir with the 24.1.2 release note.

Have you tried KW Enhanced Encryption with the Motorola enhanced?
Yes. (ARC4) I have tried many different ways, no dice. But the same in a Mot radio, no issue.
