• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I am setting up a new G5 pager. I’m trying to listen to Washington State Patrol (WSP), and I think I finally have the right frequencies, etc.

However, I cannot hear anything. It seems to scan normally, and occasionally stops with a display that makes me think there should be audio, but there is none.

Here is the screen I see - is the little ‘mute’ icon in the lower right telling me that I still have a setting wrong?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

When I switch to Knob position 2, I hear the pager saying ‘Selective calling’, so I know the speaker works.

Ha, hopefully he didn't load up on talk-groups and zones like some did thinking it's a scanner for storage of 1000's of objects

Yeah, I had that issue when upgrading PPS and firmware. Had to manually change 600 or 700 Group ID’s to Tone. That was a couple hours I’ll never get back, LOL !

I guess Washington State Patrol in Seattle still on Phase 1. Down here and Pierce County there on the phase 2 system.

Well your kinda right, both WSP Tacoma East & West have been assigned simulcast talkgroups that have been added to the SouthSound911 radios. (Both sheriff and fire). They are used for inter/op comms and monitoring back and forth, and yes those 2 talkgroups are SS911 phase 2.
At this point, ALL of Seattle WSP (and only Seattle WSP) are on the WSPDOT system. I loaded all of the control channels/sites and talkgroups in my G5 and could hear everything from the Snohomish county line to the top of the pass like the were sitting next to me in South Tacoma.
Now for tacoma and other areas,,,,Tacoma uses their old VHF channels listed in the database, but they are P25 phase 1 so program your G5 accordingly. As far as the rest of the state.I found them to be the same but would have to travel into that district to hear them, i.e= leave Tacoma southbound and start hearing olympia, south of oly and start hearing Lewis County and so on. I moved to scottsdale in july but just checked with my old Tacoma neighbor (whose G5 I programmed) and he just told me he hears them all fine,,,,for what its worth,,,IM me your email and I will send you the profile...mac
