I've never owned a scanner. My son is a police officer and I am interested in keeping up on things going on in our area. The SDS seems to probably be the most future proof desktop right now?

We live in south central Washington. Benton County. It looks like Benton County works on conjunction with Franklin County for most public safety type stuff. From what I can tell, it doesn't look like we have any encrypted communications, but I could be wrong. Our zip is 99336. Is the SDS200 a solid choice, or are there other units to seriously consider?

Looking at the database I believe you are right, the SDS would be best for you. It doesn't appear to be encrypted, but it does look like it is simulcast which is what the SDS is designed to handle. Please tell your son we thank him for his service.

After doing some more pondering I think I will go with the SDS100. The portability could be grest.

I ordered a SDS100 from Bearcat Warehouse this morning after chatting with Paul. Look forward to getting it.
