I just wanted to say Hello to the community.

I recently passed my technician test and received my FCC-issued call sign (which I plan on changing shortly with a vanity call).

Hope to hear from some of you soon.

Well KM4OVN, or KM4 OH VERY NEW. Your present call, people will remember you, and thats important. Calls like AG0D, K1LL, you have a call that you can do something with. Good work and welcome aboard.

Congrats on getting your Tech license and welcome to the Amateur Radio hobby! As a ham, you'll find lots to do and lots of friends willing to help. Be sure to sign up with Callsign Database by QRZ.COM as that website is essentially your "worldwide" callsign database that you'll refer to often throughout your life. Also, as an added advantage, you can enter your zip code or county name and find other hams that are near you. In your zip code alone, you have 174 hams that are local to you. I'm confident that many if not all of them would be glad to answer any questions that you might have about the hobby. And a small number of those hams will probably become lifelong friends.

Thank you all for the welcome!

BoxAlarm187, I tested at the Fredericksburg VEC on November 7th.
Congratulations and welcome!!

We can probably chat through the Fredericksburg repeaters. I can hit the 2 meter machine and the 6 meter machine from here in Louisa.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes! I do plan on going for General by the first of the year. Schedule is sort of tight until January, and I think Fredericksburg will be hosting another test session by then.

yes, u got it right! use that next test date as a motivator to keep studying. there is so much more you can do as a general than as a technician, but i am sure you know this. a long time ham told me that the technician license is like a driver's license learner permit. it just gets you into the hobby but you dont want to remain at that level. congratulations again.
