I am new to the hobby and my callsign is KF0ZIL. I live in Aurora, Nebraska; finding the Aurora repeater was easy because there is only one.

What are the most commonly used repeaters in the Grand Island, Nebraska area? I just got my call sign in early August and have only made one contact.

Right now I have the Centennial Towers, GI EOC, and the Heartland Events Center. Are these a three that everybody uses or am I missing out?

Hello and welcome. Congrats on getting your ticket. You may try the repeater at different times of day. A.M. rush and evening. GL 73

Welcome to the ham radio hobby and congratulations on getting your Technician license.

As for your question, you may want to ask one of the moderators to move this thread to the Nebraska forum to see if anybody is in your area. You might get some input from local hams. Just click on the Report button in the lower left of this post.

Looking forward to seeing more posts from you as you immerse yourself in the hobby.

Look up the repeaters in your state on the repeater database sites listed here. They may or may not have current info for your area.

The only good way to find active repeaters is band searching. How you do that depends on what equipment you have.

I usually suggest that new hams start with their local amateur radio club. Usually club websites, club Facebook groups, and club members have some useful information about local amatuer radio activity.

But, I'm striking out with the Grand Island Amateur Radio Society. Their website, https://gihams.com/, has some issues.

OTOH, they do have a Facebook group that has some recent posts. Looks like they meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month at the Red Cross building in Grand Island. Also, looks like they are doing something in conjunction with the Nebraska State Fair at the end of this month.

Found another club in the area, the Central Nebraska Amateur Radio Club (https://cnarc.club/). No local repeater info, though.
