Hello all.

I am new to the scanner hobby and wanted to say hello.
I purchased a PRO-164 from RS and am trying to decide on which software to purchase.
Downloaded the trials of Scancat, and ARC300.
Scancat does not allow saving of your freq.'s to your scanner but, ARC300 does.
The ARC300 software seems to allow more flexibility in creating the freq.'s you want
but, doesn't seem to be as user friendly.

Anyone have suggestions on the two or can recommend a better program for someone new to
the hobby?

Don't have the Pro 164, but got the Pro-162 a few weeks ago. Tried both Arc160 and Scancat. I don't like the Butel software in general (I use Win500 for my Ps500), but the Arc 160 was better than the Scancat, in terms of interface. The online user manual, however, is pathetic, and the software doesn't include any features for managing FIPS or SAME operations.

Try WIN97...not sure but I think this program is one that will work for the 164 and is great. It come's with a 30 day free trial.
