Hello there, look under the toronto area trunk radio systems, unfortunately the 2 systems in use are trunked.

The Toronto Public Safety system is Motorola 800mhz Trunked, with Police, Fire, Works, EMS Portables on it. Toronto EMS Mobile Radios are on their own 800mhz EDACS Trunked System.

Once you Program the systems into your scanner, they will initially "lock" onto the control/data channel, just lock this channel out and continue scanning. Unfortunately you will hear only parts of conversations, as each reply/key up of radio usually occurs on a different frequency than the previous and next portion.

Aside from the trunk frequencies, you could add the OPP analog conventional frequencies and the Ministry of Health (EMS) Provincial common + Tactical + Air Ambulance frequencies to supplement your enjoyment.

Hope this helps,

Ian

Hi btscan . The police , fire and EMS in Toronto are in the 800 mHz band. I understand your radio only goes up to 512 mHz.
While you might not be able to listen to TPS / EMS.. you may be able to listen to some OPP stuff with these freq's at this link.

To listen to more OPP will require you to upgrade to a more expensive scanner.
Use your search option and see what you can hear and decide if it is enough, or do you
want more listening options ?

Some MOH stuff is on 150.100, 413.6875, 129.275 , 149.440

You can also listen to a lot of aviation stuff as well.

Have fun ! :)

The bc 245xlt (out of production) used would be an option, or purchase a new bc 246t for what you have stated you like to scan. both of these models are trunk trackers, but non apco-25 digital (opp and mto are apco-25)

US prices for the 246t are around 200.00 us, which with shipping and duty should be less expensive than purchasing here. (350 plus taxes)

Better off f you are headed over the border, check out a us store on line, and bring one back.
