• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Doesn't matter who the seller is. He/she is a liar. This is not a "new in the box" item.

Ebay says a NEW item is:
New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is found in a retail store, unless the item is handmade or was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details. See all condition definitions

APX radios come in clamshells. not brown boxes like this. I know, I've fielded over three thousand of them. Not one came in a brown box. Not one had mismatching tags. Each clamshell has a sticker with the model, serial, flashcode and options, as well as the customer name.

If it is one thing I don't tolerate it is a liar. Just because people are stupid and paying thousands for grey market radios doesn't make this a good deal, nor more legitimate a deal. It's a sucker deal.

I'll laugh when one is brought to me for provisioning on my system.

We had a dozen 6000s come in boxes straight from source but that was when the AN first came out. Ever since those initial dozen it's been clams.

I get a kick out of the apologist for the scumbags on eBay. Go ahead, buy some hacked POS, we'll all still be here when you make a thread crying about getting sold hot garbage. 💩

Listen gents, this is not rocket science, the fonts are off on the tag, Motorola would never put a flash code of that nature in a APX with a mace. Once again the AES and DES software crypto is for APX900 with out the mace, that’s the point of making a software encryption flash, NO MACE. Everything about this guy’s radios are Bogus, from the tag to the born date to the Ho Flash. And the boxes are easily obtained from sources in China. I would any day take a used APX with a real tag then and new parts built bogus all around crap radio that looks new but is not, It might be one of those stooge network radios the orient is pushing, good luck with this crap, and buyer BEWARE.
Stooge network 😂 you speak of them uhf clone looking APX things people are uppity on in them gmrs groups? Total junk items.

Whether the radio is fake or not all the 8000’s on eBay are ridiculously over priced. Even the XL-200’s now are 4K. People have lost their minds.

Definitely seen those guys running around.
Sounds just like a crew of whackers here in Florida. The fools don’t even sell their videos to the news agencies.

Yeah, the cosplay whackers with CopSounds™ and FireSounds™ with carrier squelch analog blaring all while the cops are shouting at them to GET OFF THE SCENE WHACKER are priceless. But hey, they believe spending $7500 to play the part is worth it. Suckers.
What I have a problem with is when these road apple radios show up on my bench, bought by unsuspecting fire guys who wanted a legit radio. Sucks for them as there is NO WAY I'd EVER allow this on my system. Way too much liability.

The news agencies no longer pay for video from stringers like they used to. Now everybody with a cellphone camera sends their videos to the media for free, happy to see their video on the news that night.

Very true. The money now comes for YouTube starting with 1K subscribers on up. That's the place you'll find the most whackers.

Then these radio's end up on somebody elses work bench and then they get NAS'd. Either way they are good receivers but the Unication G5 is the best receiver out there for dual band. Hands down. And it does not affiliate and you can add SW AES-256

Who cares. Seller is a liar. Bottom line. No one cares about supporting whackerism. What we care about is that people don't get misled. Hi William!

Years ago I bought what MIGHT have been the first APX6000 to be sold directly to an individual civilian. It was on or near the official release date. I still have the blow-molded clamshell it came in. There was no outer box. Now from this thread I know that if one comes in a box, the box is a lie. I'll keep that in mind when I'm browsing for a new APX at the next hamfest. LOL.

Kind of weird to think that the APX line is now a decade old, more or less. To me it's still the new thing.

Ya know how everyone talks about "tags tags tags" when it comes to buying and selling motorola radios? Well now tags are printed to fufill that need. Its been going on since at least XTS years, probably earlier.

Wasn't this the same seller who was hawking new in the box XTS5000s back in 2020? Same deal, brown box specials claiming to be brand new factory XTS5000s in 2020. Its definitely the same guy who bought that box of tagless APX900s last year or so, same missing tags black vent ports. You can tell they were run thru the ringer since the vent port is black as crap, supposed to be white. "Factory new open box" Sure sure..I'm surprised those didn't get new labels

"THE SUPER COOL CODEPLUG" LOL ohhh ahhh
