it will no be an LTR, the plan the emergency management chose was to make it 800mhz trunked system. The plan offered by the local guy was a ltr system but the company putting it in is a 800 mhz pusher

Well seeing as they have no 800 licences, that is intresting. I guess Brunswick County still does things the old fashioned way, wrong  Knowing them, they'll ask for 866-869 freqs :p

Was it Kanoy who wanted to do the LTR system? I thought it was a out of county company.

Keep us updated with what you can.

It can still be LTR in the 800 MHZ range. LTR isn't specific to certain bands, only. There are lots of LTR systems in hi-band, UHF, 800, 900, etc...

info

hey i'm just passing info recieved from my chief, who recieved from ES-1. I think kanoy was pushing for the VHF band LTR, cause where as this one is taking forever, his would have been up in a year without having to have a specific radio type and cost over half as much. All with his money back garuntee. That damn politician a$$ kisser ES-1 will learn one day that when come to radio equip, Trust Kanoy communications. maybe that's what is taking the new system to so long to come in, they haven't got the liscences approved. they probably hired these guys to put in the system first then remembered the liscense problem.

Edit.....It took so long for me to finish that Drew get in front of me

The point with the LTR is that Brunswick County has the licences set up already for the combo VHF & UHF LTR systems.

Come to think of it, why would they bother setting up a VHF & UHF system when they will have to buy all new equipment anyway? Oh yeah, because they are not open to change!!! Law enforecement is supposed to be on UHF & Fire/EMS is supposed to be on VHF. If you're going to spend the $$$, why oh why not spend the money wisely.

Anybody see any reason to build separate VHF & UHF systems?

Thios shows how many freqs are taken while they wait to see what they want to do.

Maybe my memory is bad but wasn't Brunswick suppose to be on line a while ago? IIRC the system was a bastard "E-trunk" or something else and was being supplied / supported / maintained by the factory somewhere out of state.

Also I have had some dealings with Kanoy Communications, they were top notch people to deal with. It's a shame the county didn't go with someone local.

With an ego to match  But he knows his stuff very well. I don't know why they didn't use him either.

On a side note. I used to live withen 1000ft of his shop, and I never got any interfierance from any of his eqipment. His stuff was always clean running.

system

whatever it is it is a bastard of a system, they're making us turn i all our old radios because they won't work with the new system and we have to have all pager reprogramed. the company was supposed to have it up line in 2001 but just kept pushing it back 90 daysand it was supposed to be online may 1st but it's may 23 and we have yet to activate it or and the county has yet to reprogram anyone's pagers This company sucks major.

on a side note, this company is bankrupt and still allowed to finish the project

second side note. Kanoy is extremely damn good! I trust him before i trust ccom (emergency dispatch)

i just had an idea

now this is going to seem crazy, but what if ES-1 being the political peon he is feeding the FD chiefs BS info about it being an 800 mhz system. Sounds crazy, but if you met this guy, you'd know it is possible

Who is that? When I left C. Logan was EMC-1 but I hear he left in a big way

Is the C-Com still under the EMS director? or has that changed?

I haven't kept up since I left in 99. Sounds like the same old stuff though.

What's with C-Comm anyway? I live in Union County, NC and they state "C-Comm". What the heck does that stand for communications-comm?
