Would be helpful to see some raw control channel log of the site when this is happening, to analyze the actual call grants going out over the air.

So with the help of GTR8000 (thanks!), it seems that Martinsville is not even broadcasting a bandplan. We have a feeling that it may be the reason why the site does not track. I even have a bandplan manually programmed in, but that doesn't seem to matter.

are you sure martinsville is even a valid somerset county site, which is currently used in their radios? bi live in basking ridge, and cannot pick up this site

We're talking about the NJICS system, not the Somerset County system.

Just my own 2¢ here - I was listening quite a bit this weekend via my 436 and UT/SDR because of the balloon festival. There was a lot of traffic that is normally TDMA coming over the Hunterdon Simulcast as well as FDMA-only.

So I just ran ProScan on the CC output and I think I've found the problem: band plans for the Unidens do not ask for the number of time slots. Therefore, the step of 12.5 kHz is actually yielding a channel that is TWICE the step it needs to be as it doesn't consider there to be 2 TS per channel. For instance: VC #3-4CC was requested and my scanner was interpreting that as 777.35625 MHz, which is 762.00625MHz + 1228 * 12.5kHz; in actuality, the active VC freq was 769.68125 slot 0.
This explains why TDMA was never coming in and FDMA came in fine.
I also changed the custom band plan for blocks 2 and 3 to have a spacing of 6.25 kHz; voice still does not come though. My supposition is that it's still trying to decode it as FDMA; this might actually be a firmware issue.

You think it's a firmware issue with the Uniden? If so, maybe someone who has a Whistler or GRE scanner can run it on the site since you can select auto fill and see if it passes TDMA.

Per the raw control channel log KC2ZHY sent me, Martinsville is no longer broadcasting its bandplan. Literally not a single IDEN_UP message, which is extremely odd. He also captured a few minutes of the Rutgers site for comparison, and that was broadcasting the entire bandplan as expected.

Something funky is going on with the Martinsville site. I honestly don't think it's an issue with Uniden firmware, just as it's not an issue with Unitrunker. The site itself is configured incorrectly, which is causing issues with scanners and software.

The subscriber radios are likely doing just fine, since they have the bandplan (ASTRO 25 Channel ID table) in the codeplug, so the radio knows how to translate the channel grants to actual frequencies.

I think the Phase 2-capable Uniden scanners are merely missing an important variable for its custom band plans: it needs a value in the band plan configuration to state if it's Phase 1 or Phase 2. It seems, at this point, that the scanners merely default to Phase 1.

I started a thread on it over in the Uniden Tech subforum: permalink. Hopefully UPMan takes notice...

Was in Middlesex County that past few days and made a few observations.

1) Med Central talkgroup 4407 was always Phase 1 when it came up. I noticed this before so it seems this talkgroup is Phase 1 as I have yet to observe it in Phase 2.

2) JFK EMS talkgroup 4545 was mostly Phase 2 but I did observe it in Phase 1 (at least that's what my 668 appeared to indicate) at least once.

3) Looked to be a few non-Rutgers talkgroups on the Rutgers site - wasn't sure if those talkgroups would have access to that site.

Looks like the Telegraph Hill site is down currently. I'm receiving no signal and the LB site is showing it as Failed, Current on Pro96Com.

And the way the firmware is written on Uniden scanners, in which they pull the band plan on P25 systems from that string of missing data, that would do it also potentially.

I agree though that a variable for the P25 System (Phase 1 only vs Phase 2 capable) could help.

I see we have added MONOC north and south to this system, is there any update on this as far as when they will be using it? I thought they just switched to a cellular system? (Wich btw, the ALS HATES them!)

I have heard little traffic on these channels and it has been mostly the Medevac's so far.

Thanks,

I think it is just for the Medevac's. Atlantic Air used to talk to them over the old Cencom VHF, but that seems to have stopped now from what I can tell.
