Any NJICS G4/5 users been through “the process” on transitioning an existing profile to the new Uni PPS 0.4.0.30 ? Feedback please, thanks.

G4 here, I imported mine from the radio after installing the PPS. Made a few minor edits (I had wanted to do for a while) saved it, then programmed my radio. So far - so good. Overall seems painless.

Failsoft mode found. This is a statewide assignment but also appears at Passaic.
I also note PA to add to Bedminster Stage Coach Rd (60).

Based on signal, not likely at either IMHO, strapping 85dB no multipath. My guess location is Johnston Drive (07) and not in DB as there.

In failsoft 856.4625 👀 perhaps left over at 07 as part of old Smartzone II.

6/2
Still Failsoft since 6/2 date now 6/16. Nobody home.

Can someone explain on this system what and how the NJICS Jersey Shore Region 1-4/Regional Interoperability talk groups are used for and where. Just a simple break down would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

They’re InterOp TGs. Agencies can request their use via NJSP. The regions are pretty self explanatory.

For example, Somerset County has Northwest 2 to communicate with EMS units that use NJICS as their primary system and do not have access to their TRS. This can include RWJ, JFK, Atlantic Health, Rutgers Emergency Services, Union County EMS, etc.

This weekend the Jersey Shore Talkgroups were used for LE and EMS coordination at the Wildwood Country Music Fest. This use helped keep the local Public Safety talkgroups from getting tied up with concert issues on this busy long weekend.

NJICS Union County Hotline TG has new members.

State Police UID’s and New Jersey Transit. Kudo’s.

A glaring omission on NJICS is a SPEN 1 TG. Will 2023 bring this TG?
There must be a very good reason why this has not been adopted.
There are plenty of SPEN stations at various ICS sites.

I've been trying to figure this out myself for YEARS, over a decade probably. SPEN 1 is so busy in NNJ, nothing will replace it. However, despite having a sick antenna and ideal elevation, it would be so beneficial for there to be a simple simulcast TG on the West Orange site for agencies that have moved from analog. The delay in comms from dispatch to local units in the field prove how time-sensitive these messages are.

I’m waiting for Essex Fire Mutal Aid talkgroup.
That's a crucial one. At least it's hosted on a repeater system on the big boy in West Orange. You can get that south of the Raritan. SPEN is only as good as the tired old simplex transmitter and rusty antenna it was provisioned on in 1985, for most municipalities. I cant think of a single inter-agency/common service that has a TG patch on NJICS.

Yesterday Suffolk County P25 Network P25 RID 5208125 was denied access to Site 7.

No RID logged on ICS. My sparse Suffolk logs so some similar RID’s.

Could this be or was it likely false? Care to opine?

Happens more often than you might realize on many systems in the region. I see daily attempts at registration from numerous foreign subscribers on our system that were never provisioned with an ID or permitted to roam. Most likely cause is settings that are a bit too loose/aggressive in the subscriber, so it tries to "phone home" any chance it can when it finds any control channel. This is normally a byproduct of radios setup for ISSI roaming, i.e. Inter-WACN Roaming in the codeplug. Nothing to see here, move along. ;)

Would anyone discuss how the Port Newark ship fire communications and interop's worked. I know units w/i the ship lost contact but ship construction probably factored more into that loss of contact. Last night was a real test (vs drill) of the system
