What's confusing me is ... In the database 773.78125 is listed as a control channel for Morris County. Can a control channel be used multiple times on one system?

Yes. Frequencies can and often are reused, especially in large wide area systems like this. There are actually quite a few frequencies reused within the NJICS system at multiple sites. At one point, Walpack and Martinsville had the exact same channel plan. The key is to ensure enough geographic separate between sites that share common frequencies, and in the unlikely event that there should be some overlap, that's where the unique NAC for each site comes into play.

Friday I was receiving traffic from the Berlin site (4) from Erial. Tonight I'm in Marlton bouncing between Bordentown site (3) and STR II Trailer New Providence Union County site (15)? That doesn't seem right.

Have you read the last page or two of posts? There's a new Site 40 on the air that likely has replaced Site 4. Details in the previous posts.

My .02. Looks like a great idea. I would not choose not to reuse any common ICS channels as a CC in Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean counties unless the site was very low.

During band openings I decode all the ICS south sites well, including the State of Delaware.

As the 700 MHZ band becomes more crowded, tropo will create more conflict despite best efforts.

Yesterday I was picking up South Patrols and North Patrols along with Central Patrols (3-Comm, 4-Comm, 5-Comm) while on Site 3, Bordentown, tonight I am not picking up the South.

That's how this system works, as has been touched on many, many times in this thread and others. No subscribers affiliated with a particular talkgroup at a site/cell = no traffic for that talkgroup being carried. This traffic can come and go on a whim, and you shouldn't expect to be hearing full time traffic for NJSP Troop A (south) talkgroups on a cell that is only meant to cover the central part of the state.

As I posted it, I thought about radio affiliation.

Yep. Gone are the days of three huge simulcast cells carrying a ton of traffic throughout the state. It's all about spectral efficiency now.

So, back to the Site 4/Site 40 thing...is anyone still picking up Site 4 at any of these subsites? Or is it all Site 40 now? Hoping we have some members reading this thread who are local to any of these locations and can verify what site # is coming over the air. Thanks.

Site 40 for Camden and Berlin. Will be checking Winslow and Clayton in the days to come. Also just confirming is anyone still picking up 773.78125 CC around the Moorestown area?
