Looking for good frequencies for the North NJ area. Just got a BC246T and trying to get my base and hand held working.
Is there frequencies for Medivac helicopters or air or trains or maybe Jersey central power and light?
Could use some help in locating these. Even bought the Scanner Master book but tooo much info all over.

That's a good start was looking for the emergency heli for this area but can't seem to find any frequencies. Thanks Ron

Some Medical helicopters and NJSP helicopters operate on the NJSP trunked system. They use the NorthStar and SouthStar talkgroups.

If your talking about NorthStar & SouthStar they are on the NJ State Police trunked system, you'll find them in the same link posted above.

Ron before I begin, anything in blue is a link - just click on the text...

Before you start figuring out how to program trunking, you should understand what it means. This link has a 'basics' section, and I would stick with Motorola concepts for now...

Now as to working with the 246, keep this article handy...

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/BC246T

In the 'Related pages' section there is a link to the Easier to Read manual. Bookmark it - it's going to be helpful. There are also a couple of Freeware packages that you can use to program the 246.

if you are looking for medivacs, North Star, and South star are the leading ones North star based out of somerset airport, South Star out of Voorhees hospital. theres also some private ones, like Atlantic air 1 out of Morris county servicing essex passaic, morris, and i think bergen, but dont quote me on that one.
im really dont know about this one, but does MONOC have 1?

It won't help.

I'm not sure if you have a scanner with trunktracking or not. You would need it to listen to the medevacs.

Trunking is much more complicated than a normal scanner operation. Try this link for an explanation on trunked radio systems (TRS).

http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/Trunking

You would need to enter the talkgroups for North Medevac and South Medevac.

I'm not sure where you are in N Jersey, but you can also put in Atlantic Air One's dispatch channel, 463.175 DPL 156.

However, they also utilize the New Jersey Trunked radio system.

you want to look in the NJSP section, now where do you live what county because the NJSP has three different troops that all operate in different counties heres a map of the area so you can find what troop to program
http://www.njsp.org/divorg/operations/roadstations.html
after you find that i pulled up the troop freqs for you http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=753
any questions about codes/signals that the NJSP uses heres a good site that has alot of info about them and the road stations
