I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this. But I'd like to know if anybody knows of any electronic stores in South Jersey that sells new/used scanners, specifically scanners like the BC396t and the Pro-96. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Any Radio Shack store would have the Pro-96. For Uniden scanners, try Birch's Communications in Mays Landing ( think they are still around).

I bought my first Scanner from Birch's (BC200XLT) on Dec. 26 1998 (Yes I remember the date).

I just sent the moderator a message via the Report Bad Post function. He'll deal with it and the not so bright poster accordingly. No sense in responding any further and giving this moron any more satisfaction.

although it's a little way off from south jersey there is a place in hazlet township <monmouth county,nj>. interstate electronics or iei.they are located on hgw 36.it's a pretty much straight shot up the garden state parkway.just a short travel from the exit.their phone number is 732-264-3900. they have the complete line of uniden scanner's.they probably have every current one in stock.they have an excellent reputation.they also carry many electronics items/antennas/acc's/etc.

I am close by there, they dont have much in the way of consignment or inexpensive stock. A bit pricey IMHO. but they do have alot of supplies... more so than any Rat Shack.

IEI is expensive though! The only time I actually bought from them was when nobody else had it and I needed it right then. Otherwise, forget it. My buddies and I have bought from Advanced Specialties up in Lodi. http://www.advancedspecialties.net/ AFAIK we've never had a problem with them.

As long was we're talking Delaware stores...

R&R Communications off of Naamans Rd (Del. 92) near the Tri-State Mall and I-95/495 in Claymont:

It'd be worth hopping over the Commodore Barry or Delaware Memorial bridges just to save a lot of $$$ (no sales tax in Delaware).

Ahh, I haven't been to Vincentown in a while. Used to go past that place on the way to work every day (Mays Landing to Princeton.. ugh). Stopped in there once to find out they don't carry ham gear anymore, but someone there recommended HRO which I'd never been to (was a new ham at the time).

To save lookups, they're at the intersection of 38 and 206 in Vincentown. Across the street from the Vincentown Diner, which seems to have gone downhill after its last buyout.

DISCO? When did the town of Springfield move to south Jersey? Can you find it if you don't know exactly where it is? Is Joe still alive? Jeezzzzz, that brings back memories.

For that matter so does IEI but the old grey mare just ain't what she used to be, it's more of a pimp my ride store these days. On the positive side it's the only place where I found the only effective alternator while filter in existence.

A few years ago, when the BC250D came out, I bought it at IEI in Hazlet. They were about $50 more than Advanced Specialties was listing on the website. I told them this and they price matched it, no questions ask. Don't know if I just got lucky or if they have changed policies since then.

No Tom, it's called completion pricing. When Crazy Eddie said his prices were insane he wasn't any crazier than any other merchant on the strip. Speaking of which, Rte. 22 from the Flagship to the Somerville Circle is just such a strip once dotted with electronics retailers all selling the same things at the same prices. New York's Canal Street is the one they remember but we had a Radio Row of our own. Nothing has changed, only the establishments and that big grey battleship is now what? (;->)
