Some nice tropo in NJ right now. I'm getting the Cecil County, MD EDACS system and NOAA from Sussex County, NJ. I'm also getting a lot of NJDEP repeaters that I've never received before.

Hey, Joseph11, thanks for your skip report, yea I was receiving alot of skip too the other night from New Jersey and the NYFD repeaters in NYC. By the way, I'm interested in that Cecil county EDACS system you received, the database doesn't give much details. Is there analog traffic on it ? and just what were you hearing PD,FD or what ? I used to be able to hear Cecil Fire dispatch from this location on 46.18 a few years ago but lately I haven't heard anything and so I was wondering if they are now on the EDACS. Thanks

There's analog traffic on it (Fire/EMS), but most of the traffic is ProVoice digital (Police). Anyway, the system uses a SitePro controller, so we can't listen to it anyway. :( However, Fire/EMS paging is on 155.5275 MHz and that frequency multicasts the Fire/EMS talkgroup(s).

Thanks for the info. However now I have another question. If some traffic is analog, why couldn't it be monitored in conventional mode, if the "site-pro controller" would keep it from being monitored in trunking mode??

You can listen to it conventionally, but it'd be quite annoying with all of the ProVoice and the beeps at the end of each transmission.
