New Kent VA Trunking information.

I have a question about the new trunking system in New Kent County,VA. Are all the departments encrypted and what is the most current information to set up a scanner? How often are the Radio Reference files updated and where does the information come from to make it the most current. Please suggest scanners to work with the new trunking that has been installed. Antenna information will also be most helpful. I need information to setup a station with my amateur radio shack. Best pricing would help also

You need a Phase II capable radio. Info is here. Sheriff appears 100% encrypted. Heard Fire/Rescue in the clear a week or two ago. School buses also in the clear, I think. Last control channel I picked up was 856.6875.

Best pricing is pretty high. You need a top-end model by Uniden or Whistler. $500+.

The Whistler TRX-1 is working pretty well for me there
