I didn't see it mentioned anywhere else here on the forum. Has anyone ever seen this before using DSD or in the part 90 area? Or is it just a decoding bug? -- KeyID = AC29???

Looks like a single bad decode to me, given that every other transmission has the same KeyID of 1020. Wouldn't worry too much about it, not as if you can hear them anyway.

Speaking of bad decodes. Sometimes dsd shows encryption but my vp8000 plays unencrypted audio. I am within a stones through of the encrypted repeater. Is this common with dsd?

I'm not following. You refer to it as the "encrypted repeater", you said DSD+ is showing encryption, but clear audio comes out of the VP8000? If the repeater is encrypted (it's actually not the repeater that is encrypted, but anyway) then how are you hearing audio out of the VP8000, unless you have the correct key loaded?

FYI, DSD+ (DSDPlus) is not the same as the original older DSD software. To avoid potential confusion, you should refer to it as DSD+ or DSDPlus

Ok. Thanks GTR8000. I guess what I'm trying to state here, is the following:

Based on my experience, it appears as if DSDPlus isn't accurate when encryption is in play compared to a Part 90 radio. That then begs the question how or why is the happening? Does it have something to do with the P25 Link (this is a conventional system).

If the transmissions are confirmed as clear, and DSD+ shows encryption, then it's a bad decode. It happens, no software is going to be 100% perfect. If the transmissions are confirmed secure, and DSD+ shows encryption, but your VP8000 somehow has clear voice coming through the speaker...then you either have the correct key loaded, or you have a magic radio.

I see this quite often. It's not limited to P25, I see it on NXDN too. DSD+ won't be perfect, more so when it has to display a log/console where it is more evident when it has got some processing wrong.

I've seen this on a NXDN system I stumbled upon with DSD. ENC is on every transmission of theirs yet they are in the clear. I came across a reason for it once, I will see if I can find it again. If I do I'll post that link.
