I got my brand new BC346XT June 2010. I took it out of the box, joined RR and got a premium subscription. I downloaded the codes, entered them & found out where I lived in N. CA, I wasn't able to pick up anything without a large antenna. I put it back in the box and forgot about it.

6 months ago I moved to Fresno, County in California. I was able to use FreeScan and enter manually the frequencies and use it in Conventional mode.

I'm wondering if there are any members in the Fresno, county area?

Is there any major advantages using conventional over trunking here in the area?

Thanks for any help.

There are a few members in the Fresno area.

Being that Fresno is flat along with the rest of the central Valley, trunking isn't very common. Conventional systems do well there

So Far, So Good

Ya, I'm picking up just about everything with no problem. I live in a 3 story apartment on the 2nd floor, facing South and with just my basic antenna I pick up most channels.

It's not as bad as Chicago, but there's a lot of action on a daily basis. I guess if I would have taken the time 4 years ago, trunking would have worked where I lived before.
