Welcome to RadioReference and the forum! Communications is a fantastic hobby whether you plan to transmit, or just listen as I do. Best of luck as you begin your "new journey"!

thanks bob, Im no stranger to forums and etiquette, I know how frustrating it can be to have new people come ask the same questions that have been asked 100,000 times before.. Im actually a pretty well respected member Over on a BMW forum, I look foward to hearing from you guys in the future, Im sure you will be seeing me poking around on the technical side of questioning in the future,

I dont plan on spending much more then what i have in to it... 25$ lol

its amazing that a 22$ radio can reach out to the other side of the planet (*its actually the guys with the repeaters that i Owe thanks to) I happen to know some of the local guys personally who are running the repeaters....

anyway.. again thanks for add, look forward to talking to you

I may not have much to offer yet when it comes to radio and comms, but feel free to ask away when it comes to engineering, welding maintenance, manufacturing, repair, electrical, schematics.. exc exc Im a pretty handy when it comes to repair (*printed board is a little ruff, I wouldn't apply for that job BUT)

again thank you for the welcome!

(*ps please dont judge me on spelling lol, it would be a great disservice to your self)

Don't worry about your spelling. I'm not now, nor have I ever been an English teacher. :D You'll find this forum to be a fantastic source of information on any aspect of the hobby, and there's always people willing to help a noob. Familiarizing yourself with the forum structure and sub-forums will enable you to, in many cases, find answers to questions you may have that have already been asked. Starting out small makes sense as you can always add more expensive rigs later when you really start having fun.

my friend and I plan on taken the test soon... I took it already online, i find it weird that they ask a bunch of electrical question

being a technician (*industrial, not fcc) and a pilot already it was pretty easy but what i didn't expect was questions about didos and resistance Ohms law stuff of that nature

I know some of you guys have some pretty complicated setups and i guess when it comes to electricity what i consider common knowledge probably isnt common knowledge

The terms for some of the events that can occur are pretty cool like "fluttering" i think it was

Welcome to the forum Burning2nd. When you get your license you should be able to talk pretty far on 2 meters when in the plane, if that is permitted. Good luck on passing your test.
