When I am at home (Colorado), I never had an issue monitoring the Douglas North site (Colorado DTRS) with my 436. While mobile, any simulcast site was just a pain in the...well, you know. When I lived in ABQ, City Simulcast was sometimes an issue, but not as bad.

Having an SDS100 now, the performance is by far better. I had considered a G5 but it didn't fit my needs.

One thing the radio engineers can do is block talkgroups on sites.
One would hope that the engineers create "travel" talkgroups like many agencies have on the CO-DTRS. However, that doesn't stop talkgroups being dragged where they should be as evidenced by the emails I get with admonitions on doing so when there are "events" in the DEN metro with agencies from all over the state participating (LODD funerals, etc).

Ok Gotcha Abqscan. That link you sent really demonstrates the benefits.
If it also allows VHF and UHF reception I might order one and test it out. I am inclined to wait until the system is up and fully functional though before I pull the trigger on something pricey like that. If any of it goes the big E won’t matter what we monitor with.

I use my 436 and I'm located only a half mile from the nearest tower. I do see new antennas on the tower, so my hope is that the new system will be on it. Being so close, I'm not really expecting the distortion issue because of distance and the fact I don't use it for mobile.

To get technical, P25 simulcast systems use a different type of modulation (Linear Simulcast Modulation) to help with the time delay interference issues and this is what causes the majority of issues for scanners. The simulcast reception issues scanners have isn't from a lack of signal, but getting the singal multiple times just nano-seconds apart which causes distructive interfence in the radio. The SDS100/200 are the only scanners designed to properly decode LSM. The Unication G4/5 are also designed to decode this moduation.

As the video shows I posted before, the scanners had full signal, they just couldn't decode the 1s and 0s properly. This document helps describe the different modulations and why 0.000025 of a second matters!

Check these out too!

It sounds like the dispatch channnels will be in the clear. Make sure you have a scanner that supports TDMA on P25.

ABQ Police is the only confirmed agency so far. We have heard BCFD distpach in the clear but, we know that can easly be changed with a click of a mouse.

Welcome to Abq CurtisPayne145. They haven’t made the switch to the new system yet. Still on the EDACS ProVoice. Think they are still building out and testing on the NM DTRS. BCFD Dispatch was active prior to the holiday. Heard some testing again today on TG 1091 TDMA

Yep I understand. Takes a while to get used to the time zone difference. Happy monitoring! Should be an interesting year with the switch over to the NM DTRS and new Phase 2 TG’s coming online.

Rad, what information do you have for Site 0A (10)? I found a control channel on 769.15625 and seem to think it's to the South or East. Can you receive it and possibly obtain a frequency list?

Looking forward to this new info to be submitted to the Radio Reference Database which I check daily. Great work guys! Keep it up.

Hi Chris.
The only info I have for site-10A is the primary control channel 769.15625 confirmed which I pulled from my Pro96com log when I logged
Site-111 and you identified as the County911Center (Abq-NE). I wasn’t able to log site-10A from my location in East Downtown. Too far away from the site apparently to grab on to the control channel data. I don’t think this site is south as I would pick it up from my location. It might be extreme west side or NW by Rio Rancho maybe? Sweet! you got the alt control channels for it though.
