ValorPMM3B Tri-Bander.
Brand new model, far as I can tell?
$17 shipped, from Universal Radio.
A 13" mini, One of the new breed of Hershey Kiss-style magnet mounts.
Just recieved it via UPS this afternoon!
So far, while sitting on the Backyard Swing with the antenna stuck to the metal canopy rail, reception was very good!
In the Kitchen, stuck atop the Fridge, while fixing the 3 yr old Granddaughter's lunch, again Very good reception!
Both applications were with a couple of handhelds, both times increases well over the recieve of the "Stock" Ducks!
BTW I have seen and talked to a few HAM's who use both the 2M and dual band Hershey Kisses (MFJ's), and swear by em! One a Cop, testified they'll hold to constant 135mph, (Certified Speedo) on his undercover car! I don't own anything that'll do 110, so the little Scanner antenna oughta be safe with me at 70mph...
Looking forward to doing some actual Mobile testing of my new "ears"!
Any other Owners of these new little "Hershey Kisses" out there???

I bought 2 of these back in April. Currently they're being used here at home as base antennas on my BC92XLT and BC246T. I tried one in the car for a while and it "held up" well... tested to 85! Reception in the car was better than the stock duck, but not as good as my Antenex ABSCANC. They're defintiely worth the price though! ;)

That sounds GOOD!

Mark,
I'm glad they work for you too, as I'd expected!
Hmmm, Base antennas?
I also used mine last nite for the same purpose (mounted indoors tho) and it brought a lot of stuff in, including the Commander of the Shuttle doing an inspection as it passed over around 9 PM!
I'm satisfied with my $11 expenditure!

Mine are inside as well... stuck on top of the metal framed window sash! ;)

The performance at that price can't be beat. Plus, it's a great little antenna that you can quickly grab and carry wherever you go.

Strong magnet?

How strong is the magnet.
Thinking about purchasing one and possibly hanging off a second story gutter...upside down.
Is it possible with the weight of the antenna and the magnet?

Your gutters are most likely aluminum, unless they are really old.

Good point
Alright, I rephrase; is this mobile light enought to use twine or duct tape (the universal sealant) to tie around my gutter guards

The universal sealant will work just fine on this light-weight baby.

One thing to note: I've heard the RG174/U cable (the real skinny stuff used on this antenna) isn't good for outdoor use. Any type of semi-permanent or permanent installation might have problems down the road.

Readin 'th package...

Intresting...
The Universal Radio Website said this little sucker is NOT for transmitting.
The Pro-Am package label says, it will handle "40W on 2m, 24W on UHF, and 15W Cell Phone, plus work as a Scanner antenna!
My Brother in Law (a General Class) just told me to check the hardware on all these lightweights BEFORE transmitting on any of em, as some connectors have recentlly failed on other HAM's H/T's. Makes sense to always check connectors on any and all antennas, and I DO!
Heck this little guy really recieves and sticks very well also! (GOOD little magnet)
I like it!

not neccessarily... Actually most gutters are galvanized sheet metal, and are ferrous, so your magnet will stick. Some have a PVC coating , but that should not affect your magnet.

Some older gutters where aluminum (think 1950's) but due to the high cost of aluminum, they are less used. Althogh, some high end gutter installs are copper which are really expensive, but look nice...

You could get even cheaper and have PVC (ala Home Depot Crap), but they rarely last more than 5 years before they fall down...

Best way to find out is trial and error...
