I have a new PC I just built with a Gigabyte Z370 motherboard. The motherboard has an on-board com port. When trying to use ARC250 software to read my BC785D scanner, the software cannot find the scanner. The new PC is running Windows 10 64 bit. I am using the correct null modem cable. The scanner is set up correctly for PC control. I can connect to the same scanner through the same cable just fine with an old Windows 98 SE laptop. I checked and the com port settings in Device Manager are identical for both computers. Anyone have any ideas as to the issue with the new PC?

I'd check the plug on the motherboard. If it's plugged in wrong (180 degrees off) the pins will be off.. I know some are keyed so they only go in one way, but I've seen some that aren't.

Pin 10 is solid so impossible to plug in backwards, but good thought.

I would lose the null modem adapter. They are only needed on the newer scanners with ports that doubles as a GPS port.
