New Moto Trunk System ID 3413

Hey All,

I am in a suburb of San Diego (Santee) and have found a new site. I'm not sure where this is located, but I can hear it ok at a signal level of 0 S-Units.

So far I have noted these Control Channels:
410.1625 mhz
410.3625 mhz
410.5625 mhz

This site uses a bandplan of 408.000 Base, 380 Offset and a step of 12.5 khz...

Can anyone else around L.A, Riverside copy this with a better signal?

Tried all 3 of those here in Riverside no joy.
But from my remote in El Cajon I copy the control channel on 410.1625 pretty good.
Sysid: 3413, CT: 83.72

New system to keep track of

The system is in San Diego area.

Sunday morning hours. I checked near
* San Clemente Island nothing heard. When I was near the coast line.
* Nothing heard in Long Beach Port area.
* Came in weak in Orange county / Camp Pendleton area driving down on I-5.
* I can follow the control channel sound weak in Escondido & Del Dios Hwy.

I haven't logged any talkgroups yet with trunker software on Monday or Tuesday.
So the system is still NEW with no users yet on it! Hard to say who will be using it.
Maybe Marine Corps Air Station Miramar will be getting it's owned system or backup system.

This unknown new system is using the same connect tone of 83.72.
San Diego Regional Naval System uses the same connect tone. Not sure if it's a good hint!

I notice on Trunker software. The system time is off by 25 minutes too fast.

Did some search with those freqs. Still hard to pin point those freq users.
Since Air Force, Army, Marine, Federal, bases use them!

Thanks guys,

I've tracked another Alternate Control Channel on 409.3625 mhz and a couple of talk channels.
GroupID's seen so far are 17216, 31984, 9360, 2640, 13392 & 41648. Two of these are Astro Digital...
Seen 2 I-Calls and a bunch Interconnect Reject messages.

Okay I drove near Miramar and this comes in very strong.
Even hear it without the antenna!

Monitored with Unitrunker for the last three days on this system. Control channel rotates daily, but zero actual use during that time.

In Pacific Beach, signal very good here.

The last date I caught a tx was on the 23rd @4:37am from Group 60784 (Digital).

Even spotted an Alternate Site in the CC Dump (4 Msgs) for SysID 130C, Cell 14, on LCN 543...

That sounds like bogus info. It's either a goof with your software or bad data.

Looks like a 308-320-30B sequence describing a SmartZone, but the "I" flag is set instead of the "G"roup flag...

Thought that looked a bit weird too ;-)

Looks like a new triple OSW judging by the I/G combination. The configuration with VOC, ASTRO and 12kbit looks wrong so I don't think that address portion follows the neighbor/alternate format; could be a static alternating 0/1 combination.

My guess is they may have the system interconnected with some other type of hardware?

What I've seen in several weeks of Unitrunker monitoring of this system:

New USN Trunking system seen (not yet in use, currently all channels are dead carrier with a tone beep every 5 seconds or so, testing)

Base: 408 MHz
Offset: 380
Spacing: 12.5 KHz

Channels:
LCN 441 - 408.7625 (not used for control channel, all others are in rotation daily)
LCN 489 - 409.3625
LCN 553 - 410.1625
LCN 569 - 410.3625
LCN 585 - 410.5625

Talkgroups seen: (no actual voice caught by me, yet)

At least some (apparent) communications between some of these users, according to logs, appears to be I-Calls, direct from user to user, on no talkgroup.

Yep, I see mostly I-Calls too...
Some User Status messages, a few Pages and some affiliations...

Between these Beacon key-ups, I also hear what sounds like P25 data?

I think you have the FreqPlan's Base Freq off by 2 mhz
If it were 406mhz, then LCN 489 would be 407.3625 and not 409.3625...

489 - 380 = 109, a difference of 1.3625 mhz, if you add that to 406, it doesn't add up to 409.3625...

Base: 408 MHz
Offset: 380
Spacing: 12.5 KHz

Is correct...

Just a note, while it's in apparent test mode with all channels open carrier with a tone pulse every 5 seconds or so, I ran a search all through 406-420 MHz, and the given 5 channels are the only ones showing the carrier/tone pulse, so they're probably the full list of channels, for now.

This would be Failsoft mode. FS mode will cause all channels to key so your assumption is correct.

If so you must be closer to that transmitter, because I can't hear anything on it...

Yes, but I'm not close. I'm in Harbor Heights, behind a mountain to the apparent site. Signals are ok, but not strong.

System, which had been off the air since Dec 16th (or so) just came back on the air today, with Radio Tech (units 501 and 502) testing on (newly heard) talkgroup 16 in NFM Analog Voice mode.

Has now dropped back off the air, after the tests.

Yep, I checked two days ago and it was still dead.
But as of 2:10 PM it's back in service...

Group 16, Radios 501 & 502 so far
