Hi all, Ottawa will be implementing within the next few years a new Motorola P25 system.

Confirmed to me by an inside source as well as an article online.

That's not a waste of $ at all, considering they just upgraded from EDACS to P25 not very long ago.

Someone really wants to shift them away Tait... Maybe the Mounties will migrate to the new system too.

Too bad that money has to go to the US. Are there no firms in Canada that can handle this? Surprising with all that's going on in the world the government would green light this. (no irony lost, it's the Capital city) OMFG !
Ironic indeed. So much for buying Canadian Eh?

Mounties switched from a Tait (36F) to a Moto(99B) system about 2 years ago. I would think if they need to use any new Ottawa system they would either patch or 'borrow' radios.

My suspicion also is if they go a new system it will all be NEXT series radio as the current APX 8xxx radios seem to be in short supply.

The Ottawa area Mounties all have the APX 8000's. Most of the Ottawa area operations are on UHF conventional. Special Event chatter which is often NOT encrypted is on their Ottawa area Motorola type 2 system.

Encryption is not strapped on their radios.

That is good news. perhaps if you can you may be able to id some of the TG we have logged. If not a good Id then maybe some idea of what the user is doing?

Won’t be able too, they are two completely different systems

Yea, I kind of realized that at 3am this morning. Certainly any frequencies would look nice in the DB.
