New Newbie

I got my first scanner yesterday. It is a BC75 XLT handheld. I just want to listen to Clinton County Indiana Police, Sheriff, Fire etc. I manually put in the frequencies, and it scans, but I cant hear anything. I only have the antenna that it came with, squelch is as low a number as possible. I am a total newbie, and I don't know anyone who can help me. Short of becoming a volunteer fireman so I can get the programmed radio, what can I do?

They use a digital trunked system which that scanner cannot decode. You will need a digital scanner like one listed in the link below.
