Take a quick look at license KA3198. I see a LOT of mobiles licensed for various frequencies. Some have been identified here on RR, but a lot are newer frequencies, with some that look to be narrowband spacing. Looking at some of the frequencies individually under a search, some are listed for what appear to be a digital format as well (8K10F1E, etc). For brevity I'm only going to list those that don't match up with the RR ODF database:

151.235
151.250
151.280
151.310
151.340
151.355
151.385
151.400
151.430
151.445
151.460
151.475
151.490
159.2625
159.270
159.2775
159.3375
159.3525
159.3675
159.3825
159.4125
159.4275
159.450
159.4575
159.465
172.225

I think that ODF was working on migrating to the narrowband aspect of things. From talking with one of the radio techs last year at a fire, he was talking like 2006 would be the last year that they would be wideband for fire season.

I guess will have to wait and see what shows up on the radios in the next 6 months and then start with next programming of the radios here.

Dose any one know when USFS going narrowband. I don't see any info, date or to many narrowband freqs usfs uses?

Thanks

maybe this will help with part of oregontreehugger's list

these entries here at RR for ODF are incorrect (8 MHz too high):
159.40000
159.43000
159.44500
159.46000
159.47500
159.49000

those repeater inputs should be:
151.40000
151.43000
151.44500
151.46000
151.47500
151.49000

151.355 is used at Sauvie Island Wildlife Area (maybe elsewhere in the state, too)

Here is some text I copied and pasted from
a State Emergency Comms plan I found on the net a couple of years ago,
but I failed to note the source:

ODF
KA3198
159.270
*PL 131.8 hz
Operations are confined to the Salem area via 14
handheld radios. Communications are limited to
emergency operations and/or Governor declared
disasters (* denotes PL non-operational).

One of these: 159.270, 159.450, 159.465 (I can't recall which)
ID's now and then with a recorded voice saying the station's call sign,
then Salem, or Salem, clear.

That's about all I have (I think).

So... the freqs at the top should be replaced with the freqs at the bottom?

Dangit... I just went through and updated ODF, too. . . . and thought it was finally more logical.

guess I'll do more updates.

Correct, Joe.

Just change 159 to 151 (MHz) for all of the repeater
inputs to the ODF district repeaters.

I have an official ODF map of the district repeaters
statewide with mountaintop sites, freqs, PL tones,
fire cache repeaters, and other frequencies.
The document is in .pdf fomat (459KB).
It was extracted from the 2004 ODF Aviation Manual, although the map itself is dated 2002.

Can it be made available in "codes and maps" in the Oregon database?

I'll be happy to post it. You can email it to me at joescanner@radioreference.com and I'll put it up when I get it.

Well, apparently since it's a PDF file, no.

It is on the 'Downloads' tab, though.

I'm on my way north to help a friend move. Assuming I'm not totally wiped when I return, I'll be working on updates. If I AM totally wiped, it'll be tomorrow.

That PDF file has got to be a misprint on the TX freqs. There is no way that you can get good performance out of a repeater that transmits on 151.145 and recieves on 151.400. That is only 255 kHz of split. At least not on the budget that ODF is on ;) but in reality not feasible for anyone.

Hams manage to make do with 600 kHz splits but in the commercial world you really want 2 MHz or more. Also, forestry agencies all across the USA make use of outputs in the 151 range and inputs in the 159 range. That is what those frequencies are specifically allocated for.

Also having worked ODF for several seasons, I happen to know that the database information is right as-is. At least that which I can verify from my records. I never throw away a frequency ;)

From programming radios with ODF freq for fire dept. Your post is not right. ODF does uses 151 as there TX freq for there inputs don't ask me why they do but they do. 159 would be better.

Heres one for my area - 151.190 Rx and 151.460 tx

I wouldn't disagree with you, Birken.
Not the way I'd engineer a system,
but alas, 'tis the way it is.

Verified by monitoring both output and input simultaneously.

Ditto... confirmed input and output on 151.xxx frequencies.

Things that make you go "Hmmm"...

Maybe someone was having a bad day in Salem. :D

Well make a liar out of me, I just looked it up in my list and you all are correct. I guess the ole brain is starting to fail me in this area too. I guess I will go back to my California forums now....

It happens to the best of us.

Usually I am suffering from "CRS". If you have to ask, well, then you don't remember!

ODOT District Repeater INPUTS

I was taking a peek at the Agency: OR Department of Forestry page:
http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&aid=1177
just to see if anything new had been added.
I'd swear the input frequencies to the district repeaters
had been corrected awhile back. Maybe they got "un-corrected" somehow (??).
Anyway, they're still all 151.XXX, NOT 159.XXX

I'd fix 'em if I had the power to.
