I'm using RadioFeed now for both of my feeds, on BC796D and BC785D, two instances on the same computer with two soundcards, audio is great, tags are streaming great, just like when i was running proscan but less work for the computer it would seem, its not chugging along like it used to be so i suspect RF uses less system resources??

Either way, i like it! All the feed goodness of Proscan without the bulk.

There are two reasons why RadioFeed uses less resources:
1) I went thru all the code function by function, optimizing everything. I don't think it can be optimized more. The code is nice and tight. Next version of ProScan will have the same optimizations.
2). Running ProScan depending on the features running; Recorder, Scanner Over IP, Logging, etc. can have an effect.

Either way, i like it! All the feed goodness of Proscan without the bulk.
You mean RadioFeed?

Bob:

Test tags on the old Pro-96? I always thought that wasn't technically possible due to the lack of a protocol. Hope I'm wrong....;-)

Thanks - Mike

I wasn't going to post an issue with RadioFeed 1.1 thinking others might be experiencing the same problems and report. However I have not seen any reports. I ultimately went back to ProScan, that I have been using for months with no problem.

I am using a BC780XLT scanner for audio and alpha tags fed into a HP Compaq t5710 Thin Client with a Griffin iMic USB Audio Interface . this is a stereo feed 32 kbps 22050. (also with another scanner)

Problems I experienced with RadioFeed 1.1

#1 The display while scanning would alternate at times between the user input of "Show scanning tag" insert box and the default display of the BC780XLT ( > SCANNING )

Also the spacing between %L2-%L1 and the "Stream Name", while displaying, was quite a bit.

#2 The audio sound became garbled after a couple of weeks. I reloaded and rebooted numerous times and switched back to ProScan a couple of times. The problem remained consistent but ProScan always ran perfect.

Reconnects at 16 Kbps

Radio Feed reconnects at 16 Kbps if you have 32 Kbps selected, Thats why the garbled audio.
Mine does this every time it is shut down or disconnected by user, Now I just automatically check it.
Cheers

At the moment I'm focused on some R&D but will be starting the PRO-96 text tags mid April for sure and then will look at the PRO-2096 text tag support.

Bob:

Per the post above, are you really going to support Text Tags for the old Pro-96/Pro-2096 models?

Thanks - Mike

RadioFeed 1.5 Out

This version only has a few changes but there's one important fix for those streaming stereo.

RadioFeed 1.5 available at the ProScan web site on the right side of the page.
  • Fixed - Source Client - Possible garbled audio condition if RadioReference server type selected and stereo selected.
  • Fixed - Non DMA Scanners - Test tags had extra spaces.
  • Added - Check For Newer Versions option.
RadioFeed streams audio to RadioReference, Icecast, and ShoutCast servers using the Source Client feature or directly to media players using the Web Server feature.

Has anyone tried streaming Radiofeed(not RR feed) to an Android device?

I tried listening to my own feed on a Droid using Xia Live and it said "unsupported format".

I just tested my feed using xiialive 2.1.5. I don't see a problem. Can you post the URL to your feed so I can test it.

[EDIT] Are you having a problem with the Source Client or Web Server feature?

Bob, thanks for RadioFeed, I've been using it for a while now and really like. Very easy to setup and works great. I also listen on my Droid using Scanner Radio. One question, since I use an old BC 895XLT as a feed radio, is it possible to use Serproxy and TalkGroupMonitor with RadioFeed for alpha tags?

ProScan,
I am now using this to feed our dispatch feed and I can say that I noticed immediately that this does not bog down the system (computer). I used another program that records the audio at the same time as this runs with better results.
Thanks again.

Hi Steve, I'm glad you found it easy to setup as that's a major design goal along with the performance and low resources(cpu cycles/memory useage).

The Serproxy and TalkGroupMonitor is a interesting question. At the present time it's not possible however I will be doing work in this area starting mid April along with some Digital Signal Processing / Fast Fourier Transforms work.

My thoughts in this area are:
Method 1
Direct scanner support (including BC 895XLT).
It's highly probable that I will do this.

Method 2
Add a URL box for another Metadata source.
This will allow RadioFeed to interface with Serproxy
I will do if the demand is there but if I do method 1 then this may be redundant.

Method 3
Let Serproxy and TalkGroupMonitor do the metadata work and RadioFeed only to send the audio.
You would think it should work this way now but there is one technical reason why it will not work is with the initial handshake of the Icecast server so I would have to do some work to make this happen.
Not sure I will be doing this because the metadata would be sent at 16000 byte intervals showing a 8 second lag from the audio.

Stay tune for the next releases and latest developments.
